"Ugh","My feet hurt" I heard my 13-year old sister, Isabel groan beside me. "Oh my gosh, shut up", "You're going to attract walkers!" I whisper-yelled at her. It was hard enough walking through a humid forest carrying my backpack and 2 additional heavy-ass duffle bags filled with supplies that we got from our last store raid a couple hours ago, and I didn't need her complaining to make it worse. "God" I breathed out while adjusting both of the duffle bag straps, they kept falling. I continued walking while looking up at the sky, clear blue, Atlanta Georgia.

I looked back towards the trail. I stopped walking and set my stuff down quietly. "Here.....let's rest here for a while". "Oh thank you lord Jesus!!!" Isabel sighed tiredly while dropping to her knees, looking towards the sky, and putting her arms up. I rolled my eyes and ignored her to go make sure the area was secure. I looked around for quite a bit and listened for danger. Yup it was safe to stay here for the night. I came back to our resting stop to find Isabel chugging water out of her pink metal canteen only stopping for air. When she was done she sat down under the tree across from me picking through the forest floor occasionally throwing a twig or a small rock.
I looked away from her focusing on my surroundings. "I filled your canteen full of water that I found down by a creek while you were gone." She whispered while pointing at my slightly dented light green metal canteen, breaking the silence. "Dangerous, but Thank you". "Welcome Selah". "C'mere" I waved her over. She sat beside me. I kissed her cheek while putting my arm around her shoulder. "Love you sis", "Love you too" she replied. "I'm sorry for being such a bitch to you for the past couple of days, I guess it's because of all the stuff we've been through". I continued "Mom and Dad, our last group, never ending walkers".

"I understand" Isabel said sweetly while patting my thigh. Mom was one of the first few people to get infected when the world turned to shit (not from a walker bite, but from the walker fever, it got to her too fast) we didn't even get a chance to say goodbye before a bullet was shot through her head. Unlike Mom, Dad was in the military, so he knew a ton of things about survival and that included protecting. All of his survival skills were passed on to us through a lot of "family camping trips" more like boot camp. He showed us how to kill with our hands, how to knock people out the quickest, how to fight, use a gun properly along with a knife, how to make useful survival tools from scratch, and way way way more.

But one day he went to get supplies and more food alone because my sister had twisted her ankle, so I had to take care of her and he never came back. A day, two days, a week went by. I decided to go look for him and all I found was his backpack, his bloody engraved knife, and a couple of bullet shells scattered. No Dad. His engraved knife is my most valuable possession. And just to get this clear I am only soft and nice to my sister, but if I don't know you or you look like a threat I will not hesitate to (A) Be a total bitch to you (B) Beat the absolute shit out of you or (C) kill you. Me and my sister are really tough girls we've been through a lot and will not take any of your crap. And the deal with our last group is one afternoon we came back and they were all turned, just turned.

We weren't there to see it happen so I don't know the whole story. We (me and Isabel) have been surviving solo together for three years now and I guess it's starting to take a toll on the both of us. I snapped out of my thoughts when I heard soft snores fill the silent forest air. I looked down at Isabel and gently nudged her awake, "Hey Bel", "Yeah Selah", I checked my battery watch then looked up at the setting Sun. "It's getting dark lets set up camp" I said while getting up. "Okey, dokey Selahmi sandwich" she said with a cheesy smile while stretching. We both laughed for a bit, Mom used to call me that. We set up the usual bells on a rope tied to the trees around us so if a bell went off we knew someone or something was trying to get to us. We both had our knifes in handy just in case. I only use the guns for emergencies, same with Bel. When camp setup was done we both sat back down under the same tree.

By the time we were finished it was already dark and cold so I went to my backpack and grabbed my emergency silver blanket and wrapped it around a shivering Isabel. "You want me to do the first shift?", "You sure" she yawned. "Yes I'm sure" I giggled. She fell asleep almost instantly. (my name, Selah is pronounced; Say-luh, just to let you know). All through the night we switched night guard duty. I got 2 and so did Isabel. Isabel got the last shift so I got the last few hours of sleep. I woke up to the sounds of birds and the annoyingly bright sun shining in my face. "Good Morning!" Bel sang while packing up our camp. "Good Morning my darling sister" I replied while yawning and stretching. I got up and went to help her. When camp was packed up I picked up my backpack and the two heavy ass duffle bags and started walking with Isabel on the trail to.....nowhere I guess.
