"I love you."

"I'm not human."

"I don't care, bite me, I'm begging you."

Ariel Morgan rolled her chocolate coloured eyes, deciding she'd had enough of the crap that her little sister, Jane insisted on watching as she stood up from the couch and left the room. She never understood what all the fuss was about that movie, Dusk or whatever it's called. First of all, who's idea was it to make the vampires freaking sparkle in the sun? She never really got the appeal of fantasy movies in general. They usually had little to no logic to them. At least the stuff Ariel was into was often based on actual science and made sense.

"Look at all this!" Ariel's twin brother, Ethan cried as the brunette girl ventured into the kitchen where he and their best friend, Benny were dumping a load of junk food onto the dining table.

"Holy crap, guys! What'd you do, rob an ice cream truck or something?!" Ariel asked, her eyes wide as she admired the assortment of sugary treats.

"Tomorrow, we officially join the high school brotherhood, we are men!" Benny began, causing Ariel to clear her throat and fold her arms, sending him raised eyebrows, "And sisterhood... We are men and woman!" He corrected himself, earning a satisfied grin from her before he continued, "We must mark the moment!"

"Let's make the sundae to end all sundaes!" Ariel squealed in excitement. Benny couldn't help but smile to himself, finding her actions adorable.

"Hey, remember when you put 176 of these in your mouth?" Ethan asked Benny, picking up a bag of marshmallows.

"Yeah right! It was 186!" The brown haired boy protested.

"Actually, I believe it was me who did 186, you did 176." Ariel recalled.

"Yeah, and I did 172." Ethan added.

"Ethan, you barely hit 150." Ariel snorted. The three of them shared a mischievous look before they reached for the bag of marshmallows all at once.

"No, I got it!"

"No, mine! It's mine!"

"Let go, it's mine!"

Somewhere amidst all the arguing and commotion while the teenagers fought over the bag of fluffy white candy, Ariel and Benny's hands met and she quickly pulled away, feeling her face heat up and her stomach go all fluttery. What Ariel didn't notice was the way Benny's face turned a light shade of pink just like hers.

Eventually, the three of them pulling so aggressively on the flimsy plastic caused the bag to rip open, so neither of them really won the little game of tug-of-war.

"Prepare to lose, Princess." Benny smirked at Ariel. He had used that damned nickname on her ever since they were kids, because her name was "Ariel" and so Benny automatically associated her with the Disney princess, and thus the birth of the nickname happened.

"You wish." Ariel retaliated, wearing a competitive smirk that matched his as she tried to push aside the butterflies dancing around her stomach. No matter how often he used the nickname, or how long he had been using it, she couldn't ignore the effect it'd had on her ever since middle school, when this not-so-little crush on her best friend had begun. All she could do was hope that he never noticed her blushing whenever he used it, but he did. He never said anything, though, he would simply just grin to himself, feeling as though he'd achieved something awesome by making her blush.

"Remember to count them!" Ethan said as they started shoving marshmallows into their mouths. Ariel heard Jane say something about teenagers being dumb but she decided to ignore her younger sister as Ethan tried to tell them he'd already reached 40, causing both Benny and Ariel to yell, "no way!" as best they could with their mouths full.

All of a sudden, the three teenagers heard a loud scream. They simultaneously turned their heads to the TV, expecting it to be from the movie, but when they realised Jane was no longer sat in front of the television, they started to panic.

"ETHAN! ARIEL!" They heard their mother shriek. The twins shared a scared look as they abandoned the marshmallows, spitting them out on their way to the front door. They found their mother and father in the driveway, trying to comfort Jane, who looked rather frightened.

"Hey, you're home early..." Ethan awkwardly trailed off as Benny appeared next to them, having followed them out.

"How was date night?" Ariel added, smiling as innocently as possible while Benny nervously scratched the back of his neck.

We are so dead! she thought.
