With my game that I caught, I headed into a town not far away to trade. I walked in and saw a guy. He was new. I had never seen him before, but I went on past him. With my bow slung across my back and my arrows in my sheath, I went to the guy I normally trade with. The man I had seen when entering came over and shoved me. "What do you think you're doing in her, little girl?" he asked.
I tensed, ready for a fight. He better watch it if wants to come away unscathed. I turned to face him, my mouth drawn in a taut line. "You'd better watch what you say to me," I said lowly, barely above a whisper, but enough to scare the others.
"Dude, I know you're new, but you better leave her alone. She ain't kidding," I heard another man say. I controlled my breathing. "She can hurt you. Just walk away. I ain't kidding. I made that mistake. Don't go there. It ain't a good idea."
"She's a girl. And a small one at that. What could she do to me?" Instantly, my hands went to my bow and pulled it free. I loaded and aimed, no mercy in my eyes. I didn't have the time for this. He scoffed. "What'cha gonna do? I ain't scared of you." My eyes narrowed and I put my bow back in place. A satisfied smirk came across his face. He must think he succeeded. Well, he's wrong. I pulled out my knife, whipped around and grabbed him, putting the blade to his neck.
"You should take their advice. I will not back down." I whispered. "Don't underestimate me. If you do, you will soon be corrected." I backed up, giving him the chance to leave, but he stayed put.
He laughed, as if this was a joke. I reacted and was back in the previous position. This time, I didn't say a word, just stared into his eyes, ready to slice his neck open.
"Ede, please." My head whipped around and I glared at the man who spoke, Sal. "Don't. He doesn't know."
"Well, it's a good time fer him to learn," I said, not about to back down. I switched my target and stabbed him in the shoulder. He cried out and sank to the floor, bleeding. "Now you know. Don't make the same mistake twice," I snarled.
He grimaced, and for the first time, seemed a little bit scared. I walked away, not caring, going on to proceed with my regular plans.
