Nothing More

C H A P T E R F I V E

You were both in bed, you was sat up looking over the city while he was laying on top of the covers.

"It's beautiful isn't it" he said in a calm voice "sometimes I just watch the world go buy, observing everything, just taking it all in" his fingers were drawing circles on your bare back.

"Do you ever think about us..." there. You said it. It kept playing on your mind. There was no going back.

"Us? As in... before?" His hand stopped moving.

"Yeah"

"I mean yeah, but I'm with someone else now" his voice sounded emotionless. You hadn't turned to him yet but you heard ruffling of the sheets, indicating that he had turned over onto his side.

There was silence in the room. Nobody knew what to say or do. It was like that for a while until you decided to get in bed. Still not braking the silence only the sound of the crisp white bed sheets were heard.

His arms wrapped around your waist from behind, tucking his head into the crook of your neck.

Why does he do this. He sends mixed signals. You don't know whether to smack him or cuddle him back.

"Y/N" you felt your neck shiver from his breath. "It's fine if you hate me... I would too if I was you... but I can't get enough of you"

His hands were tight around you, his leg was untwined with yours. All you ever wanted was for him to give you his all, for him to be completely open with you.

"Things happen all the time, and sometimes I do wish I could change what happened. But other times I realise that it's for the best... us not being together you know? It was complicated, things would never work out. We're just not compatible like that" his hand slowly slipped away, leaving you under the covers.

I probably should've explained it better... we argued too much, it wasn't healthy. We felt it was best to leave it at that. It was a mutual thing, but we couldn't help seeing each other, even after he got with his new girlfriend.

"But I still love you" you whisper between your tears

There was no reply. No rejection, but no acceptance. Nothing.
