A fresh Start

It's later afternoon when Jay and Ben walk into the Vic for the daily pint, Ben grabs a booth and Jay orders two pints, they are in a deep conversation when Lola appears and joins them, Ben doesn't mind when Lola joins anymore he knows he is happy for her and Jay and with that he is up ordering the next round, Mick is serving him engaging in small talk when the doors of the Vic open, Mick looks up and a smile bigger than anything spreads across his face, he places the drinks in front of Ben "Look what the car dragged in" he laughs walking over to the tall man standing in the doorway "Halfway son good to have you back!" He says before pulling Callum in for a hug.

Ben turns and watches the scene unfold he studies Callum deeply before joining Jay and Lola. Mick helps Callum with his bags before disappearing upstairs, Ben turns "who do you think that is then" he asks the other two and they share a look and laugh "Ben you don't know if he is or isn't so don't go scaring the boy off he's just got here" jay says half a laugh follows and Ben just nods I'm agreement. A sort while later and Callum shows again working behind the bar somehow Ben finds himself standing at the bar when the doors open again, this time a man same height as Ben walks over "Callum when I got home you left? What's going on" if Ben was a little sober he would see that Callum has a face of thunder as he walks over speaking not so quietly "well when you come home to find your boyfriend in bed with my best friend home is the last place I want to be!" He sighs "wasn't me saying never to contact me again and that we are over not enough for you!" He looks around making sure no one was listening while the other man tries to talk, before he knew it Ben was walking over "listen mate he said it was over so I think you better go" he says sternly as he looks up at Callum giving him a small smile as the other guy looks on "well you will never find anyone like me again Callum who puts up with all your.. problems" before Callum knows it his fist is connecting with his ex's face and Ben is stood looking on laughing. Once the are both alone Ben turns "Ben Mitchell" he smiles holding out his hand being met by a smile from Callum "Callum Highway" he shakes his hand a little too fast and goes back to collecting glasses.

That night as Ben Lays in bed wishing he didn't have one too many, he mind is ticking over the name Callum Highway. Who was he? Why is he here? And what problems does he have? Ben was certain he'd find out all of this but he wasn't so certain to what extent he'd go or feel for the mystery that is Callum Highway.
