The Agreste Internship - Book 2

Chapter 9: The Box

*****Less than a half-hour ago*****

"Adrien Agreste is Chat Noir?" Vulpina gasped as she watched the secret camera on the air tank that Marinette was sitting by. They were both alone in the cavern, but instead of her transforming into Ladybug, Adrien left then Chat Noir appeared in minutes. He wasn't fooling anyone. Adrien was obviously Chat Noir.

"My son is what? That's impossible! I tested the theory out a long time ago..."

"Well if Pegasus did send Chat, why wouldn't he just take them out of there before the portal closed?"

Hawk Moth considered it. "Well, they have only a few seconds when the portal opens so it's possible... no, you are right. That is a stretch, but that doesn't mean that she isn't Ladybug."

True but if she was, why was she taking so long to transform? Suddenly  onscreen Mari and Chat start to kiss, and Vulpina felt close to vomiting. "Quick, Hawk Moth. Give me the ability to control water. I have an idea."

Hawk Moth was reluctant to give Vulpina any additional powers-- since she was increasingly getting harder to control each time she got Akumatized-- but since his son, Chat Noir, could breathe underwater with the aquamarine power, Hawkmoth figured his son would be safe. "Very well. But be quick with it."

Vulpina smiled as she quickly increased the level of water in the cavern as the two unsuspecting lovebirds continued to kiss. As the cavern filled, Vulpina heard some shouts nearby. Rena Rouge found her and caught Vulpina with the tablet in her hands. 

"Why are you watching Chat Noir?" Rena asked. 

"If you don't know the answer to that, you aren't the craftiest fox on this island." Vulpina laughed as she used her flute to summon up an illusion army of Vulpinas to distract Rena as she ran away. Behind Rena, Carapace came and they started going after each illusion, one at a time.

While they were busy with the illusions, Lila observed the group. Fighting alongside them was a third guy she had never seen before-- she figured that he must hold another miraculous. That's when she started formulating a plan. "Hawk Moth, I have a plan. Have the Akuma release me, now."

"But Marinette is still in there, I need you to make sure nothing bad happens to my son's girlfriend, no harm must come to her-- even if she may be that annoying bug..."

"She's perfectly safe." Vulpina smiled as she lied through her teeth. "Now please can you release the Akuma?"

All of the illusions faded instantly as Vulpina stumbled in front of the three heroes and fell to her knees. She broke the tablet she had been watching and an Akuma flew out. As she transformed into Lila she shouted, "Please someone get my bag! There's a box in there where it was hiding. Hurry and trap the Akuma."

Pegasus moved at lightning speed and grabbed the box and caught the Akuma. 

"Woah, rad power Pegasus. I think that's a new one."

"Yes, speed is another thing that goes with this miraculous," Pegasus said as he locked the latch on the box and put it in his bag. "Miss, what kind of material is this box made of?"

"I don't know. I just found the box on the plane I was on and it had Marinette's name on it. I had no idea what was inside," Lila said. 

"So it had an Akuma and it didn't escape the entire plane trip. Kind of like what happened in Star train. It must be made up of some material that inhibits its powers," Pegasus said.
