"Hey Laura!"
"Laura, Laura!"
"Hey girl!"
"What's up!"
Voices smothered me, instantly, as I walked into the doors in school. I waved at everyone, not being a stuck up bitch, like 70% of the girls at our high school.
Becca's 14 year old boyfriend stood next to my locker and ran up to me immediately.
Jared is pretty attractive for his age. He has blondish hair spiked up in the front, and he's super sweet. I ship him and Becca SO much. He's basically a little brother to me.
"Laura, hey." He said calmly, like himself.
"Hey, can it wait? I didn't mean to be this late to school, and I have to go change in the bathroom."
He leaned against my locker and looked at me with his playful irritated face.

"Sure, but don't forget to stop me in the halls, so I can tell you..."
"Alright" I said as I walked towards the room with "ladies" pinned on it.
I walked in and went to an open stall.
I pulled out a baggy tank top with a built-in under shirt, and threw it on. As I started stepping into blue jeans and some high tops, I heard voices in the bathroom, "did you see him?"
"Who" another voice choked.
"I don't know his name, all I know is he's so cute!"
"Is he new or something?"
"Totes"
A door closed and I continued to get re-dressed. I walked targeting the mirror and pulled my hair down, shook my head to reposition my blonde hair. I whipped mascara and eyeliner on and some lipgloss, and walked out greeting people.
I bumped into Jared again. "There's Laura!" He giggled. "Those khakis camouflaged you a bit."
"Ha. Ha." I pushed him. "What did you want to tell me so bad?"
The tardy bell rang and everybody started to swarm and rush to their homeroom classes. "I gotta go!" I screamed over the noise. Turning around to go to my class, something hits me and my books fall. I drop down, gathering my things, as if it were a race between me and the hundreds of pairs of feet.
I look up to see who smashed into me, but he was already down by my side, grabbing papers and books.
"Why-" I started.
"I am so sorry. I have no idea where I'm going and -"
He looked at me and smirked and then focused back onto the task of helping me pick up my belongings.
"Yeah." I yelled over the noise.
People started to vanish one after the other into the classrooms, leaving the halls empty except me and this clueless guy.
The sound of silence was deafening at the point to where it hurt, not only because of awkwardness but because I noticed how attractive he was. I stood up, at last, and our eyes locked.
"Again, I'm really sorry. I'm new and-" He look around and ran his fingers through his hair and sighed.
"It's fine. Most guys here would just pretend it didn't even happen and just continue walking." I smiled. "Thanks for that." He looked at my outfit, which is always awkward for the people that don't know I always change clothes. "Didn't I just see you wearing...."
"Yes- and I would tell you why, but you're already late enough to class..."
"It's fine, I don't know where I am anyways..." I remembered the small talk in the bathroom. "Are you the 'new guy'?" I sort of smiled.
"The?" He looked confused.
"Yeah... Girls in the bathroom were talking about a cute- I mean new guy." I instantly was covered under a shade of hot pink.
He just smiled at me.
"I didn't catch your name." He looked down at the floor and saw one last paper. He picked it up and handed it to me.
"Laura." I said laughing.
"No I mean what's your real name. Like your full name."
"Laura Marie Sandburg." I said questionably.
"Okay Laura Marie, I'm sorry for making you late again... But since you're already late, would you mind showing me where Mrs. Leslee is?" He motioned his hand in front of me. "Sure." I laughed, walking towards the blue hall.
It didn't take much awkward silence for him to break. "Wanna tell me about your little fashion story?"
God, why is he so curious.
I looked down. "Sure why not stranger."
"Oh I totally forgot to tell you. My name is Brooks."
"I look back at him with a smirk. "No what's your full name?"
He coughs and laughs at the same time, making a raspy, sexy sound.
"Brooks lee kethenhays."
"Ooh, okay. Brooks lee. Gotcha." I pointed my finger at him.
He winked at me and I melt. I look at him again.
Gosh he has beautiful blue eyes and lord his hair swoops the perfect way. Oh is he smiling at me again?
Get yourself together Laura!
I turn away, and continue to guide him to Mrs. Leslee's classroom.
We stop at her door: room #123
"Thanks. Wow that's something new: I make you drop your stuff and then you help me to my classroom." He licked his top lip. "You sure are sweet, Laura Marie." He opened the classroom door and disappeared, without letting me respond.
I walk back to class, and discipline myself for letting myself be the magnet towards that attraction. Guys like him just don't work out for me. The charmers.
But he's so nice!
{ I argue with myself ALOT }
Yeah, that's what they do! They try and sweeten you up with words but you CANNOT let this happen to you again, Laura, you're smarter than that!
But.. But..
Fine! Ruin yourself. Make your life miserable again, and then be alone and have nobody to talk to or open up to.
I continue this until I step in MY classroom, and hear the teacher lecture me about me being late and that if it happens again ... Blah blah brooks blah
