Jesse, Lukas, and Romeo sat on logs around a blazing campfire.
Lukas had blue eyes and blonde hair. His outfit consisted of black shoes, a brown belt, blue jeans, and a black long-sleeved jacket- which was unzipped to show a purple and white striped shirt.
Romeo had shoulder length bright red hair, a goatee, and black eyes. He wore a gray v-neck t-shirt, blue jeans, and red converse.
Today Jesse's medium length dark brown hair was worn down, which complimented her green eyes. She wore cornflower blue overalls, a yellow hairclip, dusty red lipstick, a white short-sleeved shirt with red sleeves, and brown loafers.
"We've roasted marshmallows already, so you know what that means... It's time for scary stories," Jesse announced. She had an eager grin on her face.
"Do you want to go first?" Lukas asked her.
"Definitely," Jesse replied. She paused for a moment. "Miners have reported hearing the sound of a shrill scream as they enter the darkest parts of a cave. This is the wail of the Banshee. The few that have actually seen her say that she is a lovely young woman with icy blue eyes and whitish-blond hair. The Banshee wears a short sleeved tattered white dress, and it and her hair are always gently blown by the wind... even when there is none. Her feet are bare, yet somehow always clean. In addition to her screams, miners have also heard her weeping or singing a wordless tune of sorrow in her hauntingly beautiful voice," Jesse reported.
She looked at Lukas and Romeo, who were full of unease... yet compelled to listen at the same time.
"The Banshee is a ghost who is full of sadness and haunts all caves, but she wasn't always that way. Like all ghosts, she was once alive. Her lover- who she adored with all of her heart- had promised her a diamond necklace and told her they would gather the diamonds together. The Banshee kissed him and gushed about how romantic of a date mining together would be. Her lover suggested splitting up to find more diamonds, then meeting at the entrance of the cave, to which she agreed. So they split up to find the diamonds... or so the Banshee thought. What her lover was really doing was heading to the entrance of the cave and extinguishing the trail of torches so she could never escape the cave. It had been his plan all along to trap her in the cave for the rest of her life so she would never find out that he was having an affair with another woman," Jesse continued.
Romeo's eyes widened.
"Wait... her boyfriend trapped her in a cave for the rest of her life just so she wouldn't find out that he was cheating on her? Why would he do something like that? Don't you think that's a bit extreme?" Romeo asked.
"Says the guy who threw someone in prison for speaking in third person," Lukas commented as he struggled to hold back a laugh.
Romeo couldn't help but snicker as he realized the irony of his question.
The corners of Jesse's mouth turned upwards into a smirk.
"The Banshee's lover wasn't exactly sane. In fact, he was afflicted with madness. Anyway, the Banshee searched for both her lover and the cave entrance for several hours... she sang her haunting wordless tune for him because she knew he would recognize her voice and come to save her. But that moment never came. The Banshee began to cry as she realized that she might never see her lover again. Sorrow filled her songs and weeping became frequent. She roamed the corridors of the cave, searching for her lover in vain until skeletons shot her to death with their arrows as she let out her famous scream. The Banshee's torment unfortunately didn't end there. She came back to the world of the living as a ghost, doomed to wander the caves in search of her lost love for eternity. To this day she continues to look for him in every cave, weep, and sadly sing her eerie tune. Occasionally she'll let out her scream, which has caused even the bravest of miners to flee caves in fright," Jesse concluded.
