The Girl and the Hybrid

Chapter 1 :The human

The girl was in the ocean she was sinking she looked up to the surface her breath was caught in her throat as her lungs slowly filled up with water , she was drowning but she would not fight the current nor the death that awaited her she let out her final breath and her eyes began to close. As the girl's body descended deeper into the ocean she felt something grab her waist and bring her to the surface.The hybrid had stayed hidden in the shadows her tail twitched slightly she saw a girl going into the ocean she's not coming back up she'll drown she realized she dove into the water and carried the girl onto the shore. The hybrid carried the girl bridal style to her home the girl woke up she looked around she was in a room laying in a white bed with black sheets her long black hair was in a braid and she was wearing a blue nightgown. The hybrid was in the kitchen making breakfast she got a plate and went upstairs she opened the door with her tail the girl was awake a cautious look was on her face. " I made you breakfast " the hybrid said she set the plate down on the counter the girl stared at her.The girl grabbed a pad and pen she wrote something down then handed it to the hybrid. " Who are you? " the note read " well my name is Scarlet and as you can see I'm a hybrid a coyote, really, I have animal ears and a tail " Scarlet explained .Scarlet passed the pad and pen back to her the girl wrote something else on the pad " My name is Iris and I'm mute " the note read Scarlet nodded in understanding .Iris ate breakfast when she finished she wrote something else on the pad she passed it to Scarlet. Scarlet looked at the note it read "why did you save me ? "I wanted to"Scarlet replied.There was silence as neither of them spoke then Iris got up and walked slowly towards Scarlet, Scarlet was lost in thought Should I ask her why she tried to do it or is it personal? If it is personal then should I stay out of it or get involved? I don't want her to die for some reason But she doesn't even know who I am so would she be willingly trust me? Scarlet felt a tap on her shoulder she looked to find Iris's blue eyes looking up at her she is way too close to me she realized. Scarlet took a step back she collected herself "what is it ?" she asked Scarlet read the note "You spaced out " was written on the pad "I'm sorry about that"she told Iris. Iris wrote something else down "What type of coyote are you" Iris looked at her expecting an answer. "I'm a western coyote which is why my hair,ears and tail are brown "Scarlet replied.She noticed Iris was walking slowly towards her. "What are you doing?" Scarlet asked. Iris stopped for a moment before she put her hands on Scarlet's ears she put them up " My ears are a bit sensitive " Scarlet said she averted her gaze .Iris let go of Scarlet's ears " Do you want to go home?" Scarlet asked in a quiet voice Scarlet noticed Iris's expression change she looked scared but she saw Iris shake her head no " alright it's your decision I won't push you" Scarlet replied. Iris started moving her hands it took a while for Scarlet to understand that she was doing sign language "you want to stay here?"Scarlet asked ,Iris nodded.Scarlet thought for a moment then she spoke " alright you can stay" she replied. Iris let out a happy gasp she smiled. Scarlet heard a knock on the door she opened the door and she let out a low growl once she realized who it was " Briar" she said coldly. Scarlet turned around to look at Iris " stay here I'll be back I'm going to have a little chat with someone " Scarlet said kindly Iris nodded. After 20 minutes there was a crash.Iris went outside to find Scarlet yelling at a hybrid with blond hair hair with red highlights she had coyote ears and a tail the hybrid was arguing with Scarlet. "Briar we are through you don't mean anything to me anymore" Scarlet said coldly. Iris looked at the other hybrid, Briar who had tears in her eyes " please it was an accident I didn't mean to kiss her besides I still love you" Briar said a sad expression on her face . Scarlet glared at her "you cheated on me with my best friend!!!" Scarlet yelled " I'm sorry " Briar said." It's too late for that besides you don't mean it " Scarlet said " leave" " I will, but just one question Scar " Briar said her eyes glowing lightly " who is this human you have with you?" she directed her attention towards Iris. Scarlet looked at Briar " leave her out of this " Scarlet said a hint of warning in her voice. Briar ignored her she walked closer to Iris who was backing away slowly a scared look on her face. Briar reached a hand and lifted Iris's chin so that Iris could look her in the eye " she is rather cute though why is she with you? is she your mate? " Briar asked a hint of venom in her voice " Pathetic!!" she yelled she pushed Iris making her fall to the ground. Scarlet helped Iris get up "leave, this is your last warning" Scarlet said she let out a low growl "this isn't over Scarlet" Briar said she was then engulfed in flames and she was gone. Scarlet let out a sigh she looked at Iris her expression softened "I thought I told you to stay inside" she said quietly she wasn't mad she was just upset. Iris did sign language "I was worried about you and after I heard the crash I wanted to see if you were okay" " well I'm ok so you don't have to worry about me " Scarlet said. Iris communicated with Scarlet Briar is scary she signed "She only wanted to intimidate me by trying to frighten you" Scarlet said bitterly. Iris felt something fall on her nose she looked up to find drops or rain pouring down from the sky "we should get inside" Scarlet said she had her head lowered Iris slept on Scarlet's bed while Scarlet slept on the couch. Scarlet woke up in the middle of the night to find Iris cuddled up next to her Iris was hugging her tightly Scarlet wrapped her tail around Iris's waist protectively " I won't let her hurt you" Scarlet said to Iris even though she knew Iris couldn't hear her "I promise"Scarlet said softly, she went to sleep.Iris woke up to find herself hugging Scarlet she blushed Scarlet woke up she realized Iris was on top of her on the outside she looked calm but on the inside she was freaking out so she did the most rational thing she could think of.Iris looked for Scarlet there was a poof and purple smoke so she had closed her eyes when she opened them.She realized she was face to face with a full grown coyote some people would get scared and run away.But Iris didn't run instead she stared at the coyote she's beautiful Iris thought to herself the coyote's eyes were different colors it's right eye is blue and it's left, green.The coyote flipped over and fell on the floor Iris stood up the coyote looked at her it had bangs covering it's left eye. Iris noticed the coyote was staring at her. The coyote was slowly walking towards her Iris reached her hand out, she hesitated before she touched the coyote's forehead the coyote flinched at the contact but slowly relaxed once it saw Iris's warm smile.Iris hugged the coyote she realized the coyote was turning back into Scarlet then the shock hit her, Scarlet was hugging her back.Scarlet slowly pulled away she noticed Iris had a terrified look on her face "Iris?" she asked. Iris was having a flashback her eyes widened as tears were falling from her face she looked up to see a shadow of a woman mom she realized."I hate you" her mother said venom clear in her voice her eyes full of nothing, no love, no emotion just plain emptiness.Iris reached her hand out trying to prevent her mother from leaving she tried to scream, yell, do something but her mother just kept walking and she didn't look back. Iris felt a hand on her shoulder she looked up with teary eyes. Scarlet was looking at her with a worried expression on her face.Iris's eyes rolled to the back of her head she passed out.Scarlet carried Iris and laid her down on her bed she went to the kitchen, she let out a sigh and buried her face in her hands. "What just happened?"Scarlet asked herself she let out a shaky breath she closed her eyes and laid down on the couch her ears twitched and her tail was lowered she fell asleep.
