Chapter 03
"So that is all for today's class" The teacher told us as he started winding up for the day.
I packed my books and looked at the time. It was 1:15 p.m. Believe it or not; I am actually pretty particular about praying at the nick of the time. That means even if I could barely hear any Adhan (Muslim call to prayer from Mosque), I still had to get up and perform Wudu in the washroom. It was prayer time so—
"BOOO!"
"AHH!" I cried, scared for a moment there. I sighed when I realized it was just Saira.
"Pfft," She pouted, "You are such a scardy cat"
"I was busy thinking, Saira. You should stop doing that every other time"
"You should have seen your face!" She laughed, "You are always thinking. Let me know when you're not, maybe then I'll pull such a stunt again and not make you mad" She sat down sticking a tongue at me.
"I am not mad," I sighed getting up, "I have to go"
"We still have one class plus there's an assembly after college today for all the freshers. You remember that, don't you?" She told me, confused.
"I don't really know, I have to pray namaz. If I'm done early I promise I'll come back for you"
She turned blank for a minute. Then she got up too. "Wow, you are definitely something."
"Is there something wrong?" I asked, not knowing what she meant.
"No," She smiled, "You should go. I'll wait for you after class. But if you dare leave me..."
"Yeah, I'll be back, I promise" I said smiling back at her.
"Usually we skip classes and go out do bad stuff. You on the other hand are ready to give up your class for...namaz..." She said looking away, "Speaking of which, where do you think you're going to pray namaz?"
"Well, I'll find some spot. And I have a spare cloth to put down on the floor in my locker so I'll be fine. Get going, you'll be late for the class." I told her as we both walked out.
"Well then, see ya" She told me as she scurried down the hallway. She looked as lively as ever running all the way to the last class of the day.
Good, so now I'll just have to find a safe spot and offer prayer. But where? I mean there's library, P.E room, head mistress office...wait...I laughed at the thought. I think I'll settle for some other place for today. I grabbed my little cloth and headed outside where there was grass and trees. It was in the back of the auditorium so as to entertain guests in the evening. This place was very peaceful and calm. I heard that no one usually came here because the principal keeps making rounds. I heard of that from Saira but I wasn't really sure on turning back. I had come all the way here so why should I possibly consider going back. I really didn't wanna waste any more time making up my mind.
So, I find a perfect spot near a bench, under an oak tree.
I run towards it and spread my cloth all over. I take a deep breath and give in to the smell of freshly watered plants and flowers. If the principal wasn't making stupid rounds around this place, I would have made this my permanent praying spot. I mean come on! I don't even know why he has to do it anyway. It's not like there's anything valuable here unless he wants to take a walk of nature himself. Yes that might be it. Anyways, I got ready for my prayer and walked over on the sheet. Soon, I was chanting various duas for twelve times.
