Cullen
Distorted images relayed through my subconscious mind, depicting bombs exploding causing avalanches, raging wildfires, gunfire and blood running down the gutters of suburban streets. Humans rallied wearing bandanas and holding placards that spoke of death to all supernaturals, threw grenades and shot bullets at anyone they passed on the street. Humans and supernaturals of all ages were struck down in their homes and in traffic. Great buildings in the cities and crops in the country burned all over the world as mass hysteria and chaos ensued.
I watched as Erina plunged a sharpened piece of wood through her chest, Kenzie and Fillan followed suit, each taking their own lives before my eyes. I looked down at myself to see a gleaming blade protruding from my heart; I reached down and yanked it out, taking my blood spurting heart with it.
I jolted awake in my bed, clutching at my chest frantically for any evidence of truth to my dream. I heaved a big sigh when I found that I was alright-as right as one could be in my current situation.
'Cullen.' A soft voice sounded by my ear. 'Cullen.'
I looked around my cell but couldn't find anyone in the dimness.
'Be ready.'
"Ready for wh-?"
"-Ssshhh!" The voice shushed me from where I was now thinking was my mind. 'I'm about to blow this popsicle stand.'
"Alana?" I finally recognised my young Banshee cousin's voice.
"Ssshhh! Christ, it's a wonder you're still alive in there.'
I shook my head at Alana's humour. I was about to ask her how exactly she planned to break in when sirens began to whir and red lights flash inside my cell.
Alana
I practically skipped to the doorstep of the secret laboratory in Russia with my younger sisters Fiona and Sinead, minus a few screams to detonate the missiles that were fired our way before they could blast us to pieces.
I had easily pieced together the whereabouts of my cousins, using my magic to trace the tyre tracks and flight path of Colt, who had betrayed my family big time. For the past three months my sisters and I had been formulating a plan to save our cousins and the Byrne Queen and Prince, who had also disappeared and were rumoured to be held captive by the Ash Queen in the Vampire Realms.
It was literally time to blow the walls down on this immoral and unethical operation.
"Hold." I instructed Fiona, who held Callum back with a leash.
Sinead screamed, directing her power upward at two, armed gunman positioned high at the laboratory in watchtowers. Both gunmen clutched their ears before toppling, rendered unconscious by Sinead's high pitch and intensity.
"Hold." I repeated as Callum chopped at the metaphoric bit to unleash true Hellhound havoc on this freak show of an institution.
We started running towards the laboratory doors, when we were only one hundred metres away I checked that my microphone headset was on properly.
"Now!" I ordered.
Fiona relinquished her hold on Callum's leash and he took off across the snow-clad ground.
"Three, two, one." I counted down to the loudest screams my sisters and I had ever done before. By the power of our vocal cords the ground shook beneath our feet and the front double doors were blown off their hinges, allowing easy passage for Callum up ahead. Ours screams travelled through the interior of the building, travelling through hallways and air ducts and into the very bowels of the laboratory.
