Max POV
Numbers floated off the whiteboard.
Mr Hugh's lecture started to sound like a swarm of droning mosquitoes.
My eye-lids started to flutter.
Math was extremely boring today.
Now , That was surprising.
Being one of the top students of Lakeside high meant that I really needed to be good at my studies. And I actually did like studying, especially math.
So math being boring was real surprise for me.
Well, actually it wasn't.
Life Corp's invite to the charity ball was still floating at the back of mind. My mood instantly soured.
'Why would they invite me?'
'After all these years? They are now suddenly interested in the son of Jacob Anderson?'
'I should just ignore them... but I have to go. Dad would want me to.'
Shaking out of my stupor, I saw Liam tear a page out of his notebook, and make an impromptu paper ball.
'Oh god!' , I steeled myself for the impending chaos that would erupt as soon as Liam threw that thing.
'Who's he gonna aim at?' thinking to myself, I looked at him. He caught my eye and winked, and then proceeded to throw directly at Mr Hugh...
'Are you seriously kidding me Liam?'
Soaring through the room, the paper ball sliced through the air and was at collision course with the shining bald outline of Mr Hugh's head.
*Thump*
A tentative silence followed.
Slowly, I started gathering my things and pushing them into my bag. Lesson 1 was almost ending.
"MR WILSON-
*RING RING*
As the bell rang, signalling the end of lesson 1, I sprinted out of there before Liam could drag me down with him.

Prodding and poking the grey sludge, I was lost in thought. Endless chattering filled the cafeteria halls. Almost everyone was talking to someone about something or the other. I kinda felt left out but it's better if I stay alone. Plus, no one was typically fond of me. Being an elite student, captain of the basketball team and receiving the highest award in this school made me quite intimidating.
But it was mostly due to my past. It made my demeanor quite cold.
However, that didn't stop a certain childish loudmouth from invading my privacy.
Stuffing my mouth with the gooey substance, I inwardly cringed. Lakeside Cafeteria wasn't known for its food. It tasted like crap mixed with sewage. Stamping down any disturbing thoughts, I reluctantly swallowed the disgusting mixture.
"You betrayed me Maxie! I thought you had my back?!" Liam's, high pitched, whiny voice assaulted my ears. He sat himself down opposite of me and looked directly into my eyes, pouting.
"You brought this upon yourself Li" I exasperatedly responded. What did he expect! He basically disrupted a lesson and pissed off a teacher!
"But I was boreddd!!" he whined back.
