You just moved to this town and already, it feels like nothing different compared to your old town. A drab, desolate place where people failed to recognize you as a significant person.
Of course, you were often thinking lowly of yourself, considering yourself to be the most average, normal person anyone could come by.
You really weren't though, if anything, you were a light that shines in the dark. A hidden beauty that was waiting to be discovered.
But you didn't believe that...
One night, in this new town, you decided to take a walk. Of course, your parent was considerably angry about you walking around by yourself at night. But, you won the argument, and was allowed outside for a minimum amount of time.
While you were out there, you managed to find something that was just... absolutely crazy. You couldn't believe something like this could ever exist.
Never, ever, could something like this be real in your normal life, you told yourself.
But there it was. A robot in a dog costume was talking to you on the sidewalk in the night.
"HI! Are you new here!? I'm Gir!! My master's gonna destroy eeeverything!!" It spoke with enthusiasm about something so unbelievable.
You were in shock, speechless...
"Wh-what? You're... huh?" You spoke in a soft voice, so soft that all that was audible were little squeaks. You couldn't bring yourself to understand.
"Wanna meet my master?!" Gir screeched. "That's our base over there!!" He pointed at the house you haven't noticed until now but wished you had sooner.
It was so awkward and out of place, the more you looked at it, the more it became surreal.
"I'm dreaming... I must be dreaming." You spoke to yourself in a quiet voice, clutching to your clothing.
"Nope!! This is real!" Gir shouted. "Ok byeeee!!!" He screamed as he ran across the street to his house, or 'base' as he called it.
"He's so excitable, I didn't understand a thing he said..." you muttered to yourself. You walked back home.
"Maybe I should just... get some rest." You shook your head.
"(Y/n)! Wake up!" Your parent shouted from downstairs. You got up almost immediately, remembering you might be late for your first day of school in the new town.
"Coming!" You answered, running down the stairs. You grabbed some toast and your backpack, and headed out.
"Bye, have a good day!" Your parent hollered from the door as you ran off. You waved back, but because you weren't looking where you were going, you tripped on a rock.
Falling face first into the pavement of the side walk. You got up weakly, and checked your face for any cuts.
Unfortunately, you cut a bit of your cheek, but it was fine. You could just see the nurse once you got to school, you figured.
You sighed, and continued walking, slowly. You kept your head low to check for rocks, you were not about to trip again.
Once you finally got to school, you were told to head over to Ms. Bitters' class.
You got to her door. It was apparently closed. You assumed class already began, so you politely and softly knocked on the classroom door.
"Oh right." You heard a gravelly voice which sounded like an older woman from inside speak. "The door is open."
You let yourself in slowly, holding your cheek where you got cut so no one would notice. A little blood streamed down the side of your face from your hand, but it was hardly noticeable.
"Here's another miserable addition to our class, her name is (y/n). Take the empty seat behind crazy kid over there." Ms. Bitters directed you to a kid with what you could only describe as slicked back cool hair and a stylish coat that made him look like a detective of some sort.
You smiled at him, he looked cool. He waved, earning a bit of a blush from you.
You took your seat, but for a slim moment you uncovered your cut. You looked at your hand, it was covered in your blood.
You raised your hand, accidentally with the bloodied one, to ask Ms. Bitters a question. Upon seeing your hand, she demanded that someone take you to see the nurse. Assuming she didn't want to be charged with anything related to harming students.
"Dib, take the new girl to the nurse's office. Immediately." She demanded.
"Yes ma'am." Dib responded, and rose from his seat. He helped you out of yours, even though you didn't really need help. You weren't complaining though. It was nice to have someone care about you like that.
He escorted you out of the classroom.
"(Y/n), was it? Ms. Bitters is awful, isn't she?" Dib started a conversation to avoid awkwardness between the two of you.
You nodded. "U-uhm, yeah... awful..." you replied softly. You weren't very loud at all.
"Hey, how'd you get that cut anyway?" He asked you.
"Uhmm... I tripped on a rock..." You replied, a little embarrassed. "But in my defense, I couldn't see where I was going...!" You tried to defend yourself as if you automatically thought Dib would pick on you.
"That's rough. I trip all the time, but somehow I never get hurt. It's like I'm indestructible or something." Dib laughed, you giggled along with him.
"At least I'm not the only one." You replied.
"Yeah!" Dib cheered. "Clumsy squad!"
You smiled softly.
You finally got to the nurse's office, there the nurse placed a white bandage on your cheek. It itched just a little, but you figured it didn't matter.
After all, you just made a new friend, so things weren't so bad.
