Chapter Fifteen

Nicholas walked back to Dawn whose eyes were down to the ground. He cared nothing that she was depressed. She was just a source of power for him. A power he wished he had. But once he fully broke her, he could be richer than he ever dreamed.

He looked down at her and licked his lips. He was hungry to take her again. The way her dress rested at the tip of her shoulders making her neckline show off her bosom. He smiled in delight about his choice for her. That simple wrapped dress was perfect for her.

He had just put his arms underneath her to lift her up when his cell buzzed. He pulled it out and checked the message.

Intruder alert!

House No.1 detects movement.

He groaned realizing her friends had infiltrated the house trying to find her. Thats alright. He had thought of this while he allowed her to sleep. He came up with an alternative place to go. One that would be under their very noses.

He put the phone back in his pocket and lifted Dawn up into his arms. "Now." He moved till he put his lips to her ear. "Take me to your boy toy's place. I want to see where he lives."

Dawn's heart stopped. He was making her take him there, why? She had done all he asked and he was going to do something bad. Tears streamed down her face.

"Don't worry. He won't be harmed if you take me there." He started to walk to a clear wall and Dawn bowed her head in submission. She shifted the wall's reality to lead them to Mark's condo.

They came came out through the front door. Nicholas grinned in delight. He liked the look of the place. Spacious, modern, and elegant. Everything he has ever wanted in life.

Nicholas uncerimonially dropped Dawn heavily on the leather couch not caring that she bumped her head on the armrest. Dawn wish she could rub her head against the slight throb she felt now. She just laid there letting Nicholas look around Mark's condo. Her eyes fell on the picture on the coffee table. She smiled slightly seeing the picture Mark took of her.

Soon her smile faded with her longing. She wanted Mark to hold her like he did those two times in the park. Her heart longed to kiss him and for her to do it first. She would swallow her fear and kiss him.

Dawn. I will get you back. Her heart skipped a beat at hearing Mark's voice in her mind. Fresh tears cascaded down her cheeks wanting more than his voice. Sleep. Her eyes drooped as she let herself drift to sleep as she listened to Mark's voice sooth her like a lullaby. The sweetest sound she ever heard.

Mark looked to Targ. "Are you sure this can work?" He didn't even know if she was asleep. He's been praying that she was for five minutes now.

Targ sighed. "Like I have been telling you. It will work. You just need to relax and fall asleep for it to work." He's been trying for a bit now to get him to do just that.

Mark paced in Patience's living room. "How can I when I saw that bank footage? She had bruises and looked so helpless." Mark clenched and unclenched his fists at the images replaying in his head.

"You need to sleep. You can comfort her in her dreams if you just go to sleep." Targ was getting tired of this because they have been at this for twenty minutes now. Mark slumped onto the couch and covered his eyes. "Do it for her."

Mark sighed knowing that Targ was right. He needed to get passed this and just let himself drift. She needed him right now and he could help her if he just fall asleep. And thats what happened. His body relaxed and he let his mind slip away to his dreams.

His dreams were of Dawn in the park. The park was like it was in real life. Beautiful and tranquil though there were no people anywhere. Dawn was under her tree, but she was blue in color. Everything in the shade was blue.

Mark went to her, but he couldn't touch her. She was like a ghost. A mist of blue. Ghostly tears streaming down her face and a plea in her eyes. His heart twisted at not being able to comfort her.

He felt a hand on his shoulder and looked to see Targ looking knowingly down at him. "Come. Lets get you to a touchable Dawn. Follow and do as I do." Mark nodded and remembered the conversation with Targ about his gift.

Targ moved and Mark followed not breaking contact with Targ. Soon Mark felt like they were walking through a waterfall and he closed his eyes in response. He felt them both slipping from his dream into another.

When he opened his eyes, he felt confused. It looked like they were still in his dream. Targ chuckled. "This has never happened before. You both dreaming of the same place." Targ smiled. "But she is dreaming something else."

Mark followed Targ's gaze and jolted a little. There were two Dawn's. One he knew to be the real Dawn because she was wearing the wrap dress from the bank footage. She was watching herself who was dressed like the first time they met. The whole scene was like the first time they met.

The real Dawn turned slightly and smiled sadly. The Mark from that day stood just a little ways away with his camera in hand smirking as he took the picture. The real Dawn walked over and touched the dream Mark's face. She too couldn't touch him because it is just an echo. A memory replayed because that's what she fell asleep seeing. The day they met.

Mark started to follow forward because Targ had nudged him to. They only had so long till her dream would throw them out. They needed physical contact to stay. She had to be willing to let them stay too.

Mark didn't stop till he wrap his arms around Dawn. She didn't stiffen like the other times. Then she sighed and relaxed more turning around in his arms to hold him fully. He thought she just did that because she thought it was part of her dream. To be held by him though it was still in her dream. He looked out and saw her dreamworld sparkling and shimmering all around them.

Dawn pulled back and then kissed Mark. Mark moaned as he pulled her closer. His heart soared that she kissed him. She wanted to show him how she felt and it was for him. This was the perfect time to.

"Ahem." Targ cleared his throat at them causing both of them to break their kiss and blush. He smiled apologetically to them. He knew they both needed that. To show each other their love for the other.

Dawn shifted slightly away from him and pressed into Mark. Mark tilted her chin up. "Sorry. This is Targ. He's a friend of mine who helped me enter your dream."

Dawn looked stunned. "Enter my dream? You're not part of my dream?" Mark smiled and shook his head.

He watch as the realization hit and something passed through her mind. Her dream shifted and glittered around them. It changed from the city park to Mark's condo. Mark looked around and saw Dawn asleep on his couch. She was wearing the wrap dress.

He looked at Dawn confused. "I don't understand why you're dreaming this."

Tears streamed down her face. "He made me take him here. He wanted to hide me under your nose."

Mark looked to Targ. He was torn. They could go and save her right now, but he didn't want to go just yet. He didn't want to leave her to go back to that monster. "What do we do?"

Targ sighed. "It's up to you, but I suggest we get the real Dawn into your arms."

Mark looked to Dawn. He stroked her cheek. "I'll rescue you. And if you let me, I'll hold you and never let you go."

Dawn felt touched and her heart filled beyond what she thought she could feel. Then something in the real world shot through her. Dawn gasped and her head shot back. She clung to his shirt as the pain increase. The scream that came out of her was one that tore at Mark's soul.

"We need to get to her now!" Targ said trying to release her fingers from Mark's shirt. Mark just stood there watching her gasping for air. "We need to go!"

Suddenly they were forced out of her dream and both fell to the ground hard back in Mark's dream. Mark turned to Targ. "Get out and wake me up!" Targ instantly let go.
