I looked my mother in the eyes as she asked me again, but in a different way.
"Are you ready to accept this quest?" she looked at me and slightly smiled. A rush of comfort and security ran through my veins. I assumed she was trying to comfort me because I am sure my facial expression displayed uncertainty. I was unsure what to tell her and frankly I didn't want this life. I wanted everything to go back to the way it used to be. The way it used to be when my father was still around.

"Bella?" I looked up from the kitchen table to my father standing in front of the door way.
"You are home early," I smiled and ran to hug him, "how was work?"
"The same old daily grind Bella," he hugged me back tighter. The lines in his face implied tiredness that only my mother could understand. He was a business man and the daily grind of 9-5 slowly weighted on him. He made awesome money by being the boss of a company, but his hours were getting pushed later and later. Often on Friday's he would surprise the entire family and come home early. These are the days that were the most special.
"Come on let's go get your mother and get some pizza," I smiled.

Those were the days that I missed when life was simple. When father would come home early from work and we would go out to eat. The days I didn't have to think about those girls bullying me everyday. The days I didn't have to worry about feeling insecure or lost. The days where everything was happier and full of life. Do I accept this new life? Do I want to accept this new life? All I wanted back was my old life, but that wasn't going to happen.
"Honey, you need to make a decision," my mother's soft gentle voice broke me from my stream of consciousness. A rush of panic ran through my veins because I needed to make a decision.
"What if I agree to this situation what happens then?" I looked down at my feet pretending to not be interested. I was interested, but I couldn't make mom believe that for one second. After all, this was all her idea and her plan from the start.
"If you say yes you will not regret your new life."
"This sounds like a bad TV commercial," mom rolled her eyes at my comment. I can't help that this is the first thing that I thought of.
"Bella, honey I promise you won't regret this. This is a life changing event that only you and I can fulfill. We need to save our race because it is dying! We are running out of time and I need to know if we are in this together."
With all my will and strength I didn't want to lose my mother again. I just wished for part of my old life to come back and suddenly she is standing before me and looking at me straight in the face.
"Honey, just please take this chance."
All of a sudden a wave of heavy emotion scattered throughout my body. With all these newfound emotions I knew exactly what I had to do.
"I accept this quest and I am ready for this journey."
A few tears fell from my mother's eyes and she grabbed my hand. She grabbed the book with the other and started reading out loud again. She flipped to page 10,200 and started there.
"If the daughter accepts the quest and she states it out loud the journey will begin there. The mother must go inside the closet where she found the book and look for a coin. When she flips the coin and it lands on the floor the mother and daughter will be transported to phase one."
My mother reached inside the closet and pulled out the coin. Before flipping it she looked at me. "Are you sure?"
"100 percent."
She nodded her head and flipped the coin and before I realized it my new life was already starting.
