I hopped inside my taxi and told him where the restaurant was that my mother wanted to meet. My heart pounded in my chest as the taxi was closer and closer to the place. She wanted to meet at the Pizza Shop where we used to get pizzas with dad. I don't know why she wanted to come here of all places, but whatever she wanted. When the taxi arrived at the destination, he politely asked me if I would need a ride home.
"Would you like me to wait ma'am?"
"Uh..." My mind wondered if I would need a ride home. I quickly looked through my purse for a piece of scrap paper and wrote my number down.
"Here, text or call this number in about 10 ish minutes and I will let you know," he nodded.
As I walked into the restaurant I could remember almost everything about dad. How he would laugh and wanted to make mom smile. He would tell dad jokes because he knew her sense of humor was easily amused. He would make sure she was happy and satisfied all the time. I was young, but for some reason my memories are strong.

"Is the food okay honey?" My father asked my mom and rubbed her hand.
"Honey, it's pizza. How could I be unhappy with pizza?"
"I just wanted to make sure."
"You're too good to me," she smiled as she kissed his forehead.

My memories trailed off when I heard a familiar voice call out to me. I looked up and it was my lovely mother. She looked the same as before except her ginger hair was longer and passed her shoulders. Her eyes were still brown, but they seemed to have lost their sparkle. She looked weary and tired from all the wrinkles that surrounded her eyes. My God, what happened to her? I wondered as I thought about what to say.
"Hi," was all I could manage to say.
"Hi honey, I missed you so much!" She grabbed both of my arms and hugged me tightly. I felt the same warmth from when I was younger. The hug that I had been craving I finally received. Happiness surrounded my body and I was the most content that I'd ever been in my entire life. I wanted this moment forever, if that was only possible.
"I missed you too. Where have you been?" My happiness slowly started to shift. It was if my mother could feel it immediately because she let go of me. How did she know so quickly?
"I will explain Isabella, I promise. Please sit with me," she pointed towards a booth filled with pizza, "I got your favorite," I smiled and walked towards the booth. My favorite type of pizza was triple layer meat with extra cheese.
"I haven't been here in years," I sighed and again my mother could feel my energy almost immediately. She sat down across from me and rubbed my hand. It reminded me of what my dad did to my mom when she felt...wait a minute.
"Why are you doing that?" My anger began to consume me.
"Doing what?" My mother asked confused as ever.
"Reacting immediately to my emotions. How do you know?"
"This is why I wanted to meet with you Isabella. I wanted to finally explain your entire life to you," I took a bite of my pizza as she continued to talk.
"When I was younger, I realized that I was different. I realized that every time someone hurt me they disappeared, but when I loved someone they disappeared also. I didn't understand it, but I knew it would come to haunt me when I didn't expect it to," my eyes were wide as she spoke. This is exactly what I go through, but why?
"I finally realized around the age I meet your father that this stopped happening. I was hopeful so I fell in love with your father. On our wedding night, I told him all about what happened to me. He promised me he wouldn't disappear on me, even though he indeed would. The night he died an enemy of mine came back to haunt me," a tear fell from her eyes.
"Murder?" I was shocked as I continued to eat my pizza. I definitely needed food to comfort me today with all this drama.
"No exactly. See sweetie, people like us have a gift. We have this ability to make people feel any type of way towards us. Happy, sad, depressed, or even the feeling of dying. We have the ability to hurt people and get rid of people we don't like. Unfortunately, when we give that ability off the negative energy has to go somewhere. Your enemies gain the negative energy and they are able to hurt you without committing a crime. Every women in our entire family has this gift."
"Mom, I'm confused..." I looked at her and she was serious. I had powers, what? This isn't a magically Disney tale this is reality.
"Have you ever hated someone Isabella?"
"Yes...I have," I looked down as the guilt consumed me.
"The girls who bullied you everyday no? What happened to them?"
"One day they never returned to school. Did I kill them?"
"No, you didn't kill them. You only kill if that is what you wished for. You most likely wanted them to go away so something happened in order for them to move schools. Listen, I made a lot of enemies left and right. They all came back to haunt me and killed the love of my life. They made sure he died in his sleep, but I could have saved him," again confusion was in my mind.
"How could you have saved him? It sounds like our powers our mental and we can make people feel things, good or bad. Then the enemies of us gain some of our power, but they use it for evil. How could you have saved him?" I asked puzzled by her words.
She sighed, "If I hadn't told him that night of my special abilities he would be alive right now. I didn't know this at the time. I stopped telling my friends and boyfriends and this stopped happening. I still made my enemies disappear, but the negative energy stayed put sense I didn't break the code."
"What will happen to me? Will I join dad in heaven?" I panicked and my eyes were wide. Was I going to die because mom decided to tell me? I rather have not known about this.
"No, you won't die. According to the code, we are supposed to tell our daughters only not the husbands/boyfriends/sons. They are supposed to say out of the affairs. However, a few families in this race have only male sons so they all have the power," I sighed again. I wanted to know why she left and decided to tell me this now. Did she say code? What is that supposed to me?
"What do you mean code? What do you mean not tell the men in our life? Why did you leave me none of this makes sense?!" My anger began to consume me once more and the words felt like daggers coming out of my mouth.
"Honey, you will learn about the code in due time. I was gone on a mission for our class. You're finally the right age where you can come and do all of this with me or without me. We can work together to save the entire world," she smiled up at me, "this life is much more adventurous than what you are used to. Listen finish your pizza I need to take you somewhere."
"Where are we going now mom?" I sighed as I stuffed the last pizza into my mouth.
"The place you need to learn about us and the code. I want you to learn about the quest to save our race and mankind."
