Lizzie thought sleeping next to Funny Leo was bad enough, but sleeping next to Angry Leo was worse.

His back was turned to her, and insomnia made her desperate. She turned to hug him from behind, not stopping at his weak protests.

"What are you doing, Lizzie?" he put his hand over hers to stop it from wandering over his skin.

"I'm sorry about the tracker," she said into his ear, kissing it to be more convincing.

"I am, too," he pushed her hand away, managing only to move it into his boxers. "Cause now you can't stay here."

"He's not going to let you go," he turned to look at her, all worried in the monitor light, on without anyone watching it. She kissed him, her body pressing into his. He was by the wall, he had nowhere to go, so he kissed her back, letting her lead his head over her.

"I don't care what Dale does," Lizzie said as his lips went down on her. "I told you, I'm not scared of him anymore."

He kissed her breast, then he went lower, "Maybe you should be, and you're crazy. But I'm not either, and we're in this together. At least, until you leave."

"Didn't you hear, I'm not leaving," Lizzie kissed his hair.

"Yeah, even if you stay in Hazel Park," his breath warmed her stomach, "I don't think this... us... stand a chance."

Sensing her stillness against him, he looked up at her, "Not until you want it to."

"I do want to!" Lizzie's voice was weak. How could he not see that?

"It feels like you're on this ledge, and I keep having to yell to get you off it. And then you climb it again. You can't do it for me, and I can't do this, every day. You have to want to be with me," he returned to her mauled skin.

Lizzie didn't say anything, she just watched him touch with one finger, then kiss her acid scars once, right in the middle of the circle that covered an intricate tattoo that had taken days to perfect, its pattern now forgotten after so many years without it.

"I don't want to hurt you," Leo said. "But I can't do this anymore. I mean, I do want to take you up on that offer, cause you were right about us being great in bed together," he kissed her cherry tattoo, left to fade on its own. "But I'm done convincing you to change your life for me. You're right, it's none of my business."

"The biggest enemy you got is yourself," he finished his lecture. Lizzie wished she could push him back, but it felt too good to have him there. She tightened her legs around him.
