Bridgette P. O.

Me and Marinette were sisters. And I was the oldest. Only by a couple of minutes, but still. Marinette was still shocked by this news. I looked at Max and he seemed surprised too.

"Well, what now?" Marinette asked.

"What do you mean?" Max asked.

"I mean, I just found out about my grandmother being in trouble, I'm royalty, and now I have a sister who I thought was a cousin." Marinette said, while pacing back and forth. I could tell she was still shocked, and maybe something more?

"Marinette, are you ok?" I asked her.

She turned around and stared at me. "No, I'm not ok. Don't you get it? I'm your sister. Your my sister. We're not cousins, we're sisters. My mom is your mom. My dad is your dad. We share the same blood. The same hair, eyes, and we even have the same noses." She was now listing things we have in common.

"Yeah, I know we're sisters. And I'm so excited. I can't wait to catch up with you. And play games with you. Oh, maybe Max could play with us." I said, smiling at the thought of us having fun together.

Marinette P.O.

I stared at Bridget as she kept on listing the things we could do together. I looked back at Max and he just stood there. Staring at Bridget like me. We both looked at each other and even he had a look that said 'what?'. I finally had enough of this.

"-and then after the tea party, we could-" I stopped her with my hand.

"Bridget, what are you talking about?" I asked her.

"I'm talking about when we go back. We'll have lots of fun. Like, playing tag and other games. Or we could just have sleepovers. Or anything you want to do." She said.

She seriously had no idea what was going on. I looked back at Max and he stayed quiet. Maybe he knew what I was thinking, but didn't want to say it. Maybe he knew all along, but he still wanted her to be happy.

This boy knew what he was getting himself into and yet here he is. Still willing to protect and serve her, as long as she lives. I just imagined how it would be if someone treated me like this.

I sighed. I had to tell her. But maybe not everything. Or at least not now.

"Bridget, we have to talk." I said.

"I know. We need to find out what size you are so we can go shopping. You know what, nevermind. We can have our servants do that for us. We'll look so beautiful when we get back home and take back our thrones." She said, happily.

I couldn't tell her. It'll break her heart. And maybe even break Max's heart. He had to know about this, but still he stayed. He had to love her. And yet he couldn't have her.

I nodded at Bridget. "Well, I guess we better get started if we want to take back our thrones." I said. Bridgette smiled and jumped up and down.

"Good, now we need a plan." She said.

"How about you go get something to eat and we'll stay up here and talk." I said.

"Ok. I'll be back." She said, and walked out the trap door.

After she left I turned towards Max. He looked at me. "You know you cant go back. Neither of you can." He said.

"And were you going to say it, or me?" I asked, crossing my arms over my chest.

He looked away. I knew it. He loved her too much to tell her the truth, but then again he couldn't lie to her. So I'd have to break the news to her. But not even I could do it.

"What do we do?" I asked him.

He shrugged. "Hopefully keep her busy until her birthday passes." He said.

"Why? What happens on her birthday?" I asked.

He sighed and said, "When she turns 16, she has to marry a prince. Once she's married, she'll become queen and can rule the kingdom. That's the only way to bring things back to how they were before." He said, sadly.

"Does the same go for me?" I asked.

"Not really. Since, technically, you're the second born, you can marry anyone. But they have to prove themselves worthy." He said.

"So, Bridgette has to marry a prince. No way around it?" I asked Max.

He shook his head. "Sadly, no." He whispered.

I walked up to him and put my hand on his shoulder. "I truly am sorry."

He gave me a sad smile. I knew what he was going through. It seems like me and Adrian would never be more then friends. Me and Max were in the same boat, and we both wanted out.

Max then stood up tall and looked serious. "It doesn't matter, if this means the kingdom is safe, then I'll do whatever it takes."

I shook my head. "What if she's doesn't want this? Have you thought about how she would feel about this?" I asked him.

"You don't think I didn't know what I was getting myself into? Of course I do." He said, angry.

"Then why say it like you don't care?" I asked, also angry.

"Because,  I can't." He said.

"You can't? What do you mean 'you can't', of course you can." I said, now angry.

"No, I can't. " he repeated.

"Yes you can. You just won't." I yelled back.

I then thought about what I just said. 'You just won't '. Just like I won't tell Adrian. I looked back at Max. We really were in the same boat.

"You really can't, can you?" I asked.

He shook his head. I looked down. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say that."

"No, you're right. But only half right. I would tell her, but even if I did, what would that do. She's still a princess. She'll still marry a prince. And that's what she deserves." He said, looking away.

I looked down, then back up at him. "You're right. She is a princess. But here, she's just my cousin from China. And you're her best friend."

Max must have seen what I was talking about and smiled. "Just until her birthday..."

"And after a day. Then we'll go back. Deal?"

"Deal."

And we shook hands.
