chanmi had no idea who yubin was, but by the looks on both minho's and, who she assumes is, changbin's face told her she was an important person. for her time being there, chanmi has not seen minho look so relieved and shocked at the same time.
"i'll get going now," chanmi nods her head to the two boys, "it sounds like you both have personal business to attend to."
changbin looks over to the girl, acknowledging her for the first time since he ran up to minho, "i'm sorry, i was just in a big rush to find minho."
chanmi softly smiles at the boy, he looked as if he had not slept in days, only running on coffee and energy drinks. "it's no problem, i have work to get done anyways," chanmi waves to the boys before taking her keys out to unlock her apartment door.
minho and changbin both go back into the elevator, no conversation being started which meant chanmi had no clue as to who this yubin character is. chanmi noticed that after changbin had uttered the name yubin, minho had been put into a state of such shock that he could not process anything else besides the fact of yubin being awake. instead of responding and being coherent like a normal human being, minho just stared off and his eyes held such emotion that chanmi could almost feel saddened by the feelings they emitted.
shaking off the situation, chanmi lets out a sigh and pulls out her laptop where she begins working on assignments she had pushed off until now. even though she had important papers to write for her classes, all chanmi had on her mind was minho and why was it that he suddenly lost his cool when he heard about someone waking up.

at some point chanmi fell asleep while proofreading one of her papers, but stirring in the apartment next to her caused the girl to wake up. rapidly blinking her eyes, chanmi looks around to see that her apartment was completely dark, no sunlight coming in through the windows or glass door leading to the balcony. she stands up, yawning as she was still tired, and makes her way to turn on the lights. finally, she checks the time to see it was three in the morning, but instead of going back to sleep, chanmi wondered what her neighbor was up to.
since she did not want to be too much of a bother to him, she walks onto the balcony, looking to the side to see him standing alone in the moonlight with a pack of cigarettes in hand. chanmi did not know why, but she kind of felt hurt he had already broken the promise, yet she knew she should not have taken a silly promise with her neighbor so seriously. he was probably just trying to get chanmi to not think about taking her own life since no one wants to just stand by and watch.
after seeing the pack of cigarettes, chanmi turns herself around, suddenly not wanting to speak with her neighbor. "leaving before you say hi?" minho questions as he tosses the pack of cigarettes onto the table with the ashtray.
"i just got really tired, it is three in the morning," chanmi responds.
"i wasn't gonna smoke," minho looks over to chanmi who was half way into her apartment, "i found it out here."
chanmi goes back onto the balcony and stares at minho, "but you thought about it and you really wanted to. if you want to then go ahead, i can't stop you."
minho shakes his head, his mood from before slowly going away as he spoke with chanmi, "but then i'd be breaking out promise and that's something i don't want to do."
"it's just a promise to your crazy neighbor, you don't really have to keep it," chanmi leans against the railing of her balcony, staring up at the sky.
"crazy?" minho laughs, "you're weird but not crazy, just going through things."
chanmi looks over to minho, the look of exhaustion covering his features, and yet he still chooses to pretend to be wide awake just to talk to the girl. the gesture was sweet, but he truly seemed to be going through a lot at that moment and chanmi did not want to drain him anymore than he already was.
"go to sleep," chanmi turns on her heel, "you really need it."
minho watches the girl go back into her apartment, closing the sliding door behind her. when he hears the click of the door locking, the smile on his face drops instantly and he allows himself to fall onto the chair placed beside the table on his balcony. he really was about to light a cigarette, but then he saw chanmi and his urge to smoke suddenly went away as he remembered their promise to each other. but after the day he had, he is truly surprised he didn't just smoke it right in front of her.
with a glance at the cigarette box on the table, minho gets up and turns around to go back into his apartment. he immerses himself into the silence, taking it in as he tries to calm his thoughts which ran rampant in his head. today was a complete rollercoaster for him and he had no idea how to feel.
