the past

buckys past is blurry but sam and adrienne are helping him to remember the good things about his past and helping him to build a bright future.

'the winter soldier' is one bad part of buckys past but it isn't him, it's a part of him that he isn't very fond of...

bucky sleeps in the bed next to sam when he wakes up in a cold sweat. he walks out to the dock in the middle of the night, his head full of the negative thoughts from his nightmare:

the winter soldier, on a mission.. sent by hydra. the objective is to kill the passengers who are carrying more of the super soldier serum. he spikes the target car and it goes crashing into a tree. the passengers in the car, a woman, a man and a young girl, the woman was protecting the young girl with her body.

the young girl pushes the woman's body off of her and shakes her to wake up, she does the same to her dad who was resting on the steering wheel. the parents killed in the crash, the girl sits in the car, sniffling, shaking. she sees a figure walk up to the broken window, the winter soldier poins his gun at the little girl and she turns around..

bucky sits at the bench on the dock, his head lowered. the time is now early morning, bucky sat outside for a couple of hours. sam wakes up and throws his arm to the other side of the bed and to his surprise, it hits the bed instead of a body.

sam cocks his head in confusion and shrugs it off, he gets up and gets ready. as he walks down the stairs, adrienne catches up to him and he pulls her into a side hug.

'morning sam'

'sup kid' sam gives adrienne a noogie

the two of them walk into a kitchen and sam pours a cup of coffee and makes a cup of tea for adrienne.
as sam walks around the living room, he stands in front of the big windows that view the outside. he sees bucky sitting outside, sam puts down his mug and walks outside.

bucky gets up and lets out a deep sigh. he closes his eyes as he unhooks his dog tag from around his neck, he looks at it in his hands before raising it to chuck it into the lake.

as bucky brings his hand back to throw it a hand grabs his arm. bucky is shocked by the touch. the hand releases its grip and bucky lowers his hand and turns around,

'what are you doing out here buck?'

'i...' bucky sits back down

sam goes to sit next to him.

'in my dream.. i, i killed-' buckys head drops

'hey, i'm here..' sam puts a hand on buckys back

'my dream.. hydra had me again and i was on a mission, and there was a family of three and... there was a little girl' bucky starts to choke on his words

'it's okay.. breathe' sam rubs buckys back

bucky takes a deep breath in and breathes out,
'the little girl was adrienne and i killed her...'

sam looks at bucky with worried eyebrows, buckys eyes glisten with tears, ready to fall.

'i don't want to hurt her sam' buckys voice is shaky

'and you won't..' sam lifts buckys head up with his hands

'i'm gonna go train.. i cant have this on my mind right now' bucky gets up and walks away

bucky walks into hq and passes adrienne on the way to the training room,

'hey dad!' adrienne raises a hand

bucky doesn't look at or acknowledge adrienne.

adrienne looks at bucky with furrowed eyebrows as he walks away, she lightly scoffs at him.

sam walks in and sets his mug in the sink,

'what's up with dad?'

sam turns around,
'he had a rough night'

'oh...i'm gonna go find him'

'adrienne-' sam tries to stop her but she was already out of the kitchen
...
adrienne walks all over hq to find bucky and she finally finds him in the training room, she opens the door and walks towards bucky.

'dad?'

bucky stops punching the punching bag and turns around.

'sam said you said you had a rough night?'

bucky doesn't speak. he looks at his daughter, he cups one side of her cheek to make sure she was real.

'okay?..' adrienne is confused

without anymore hesitation bucky pulls adrienne into a hug.

'oh, alright' adrienne says into buckys chest

she wraps her arms around bucky as well,

'don't leave' bucky shyly says

'...i will never'
