Dear Journal,
The best thing about being a bakery owner in a small town is that business is always booming. Straight out of college I opened my own business. Baking was always a passion of mine and I wanted to explore it more. Seeing as I was the only 17 year old college freshman, I didn't have it easy. My father always pushed me to be the best I could be and never doubted myself. My little sister, Chloe, was a bit of a different story. She not only encouraged me, she stood/sat in the kitchen with me and tasted everything I made. Not once did she withhold the truth from me. If something wasn't good, she told me. That was just my sister though, she is very opinionated.
My bakery was named, Kenzi's Delights Chloe helped me pick it out. How rude of me, my name is Makenzie Sullivan, and this is my story about moving back into my small town life just as weird this start happening. Speaking of weird things, my little sister just got up and I have to go.
So long,
Makenzie Sullivan
THIRD POV
Makenzie placed her journal in her desk drawer before heading downstairs in her father's place. The journal was a homecoming gift from her father when she started her business. He was just so excited to have her back that he figured it would be a great way to document her return home. Makenzie loved it quite frankly, she didn't think her father had it in him to get such a gift for her. Her father was a unique man to say the least. He works at the Luthor plant in their small town. He didn't make much but everything he did went towards his family and his girls. Makenzie, had been staying with them for a few weeks just as her apartment was being renovated.
"Kenzi, I'm off to school." Chloe called up the stairs.
Makenzie headed down the stairs all dressed for work with a smile on her face. She was met with the site of her father and her little sister talking as her sister was heading out the door.
"I can take you to school if you want, you know if you don't mind being really early? I have to head in early and open since Christine called in sick." Makenzie raised her eyebrows with a quirky smile on her face making weird faces at her sister.
Chole looked at her sister as if she were crazy. "Uhhh, I think I'll take the bus."
Makenzie laughed at her sister as she watched her back out of the house before making a break for the bus stop. Turning to her father, she smiled and pulled him in for a hug. Accepting the coffee in his hands, she moved to lean against the kitchen counter.
"Thanks for the coffee dad," she took all of one sip of the hot coffee before handing it back to him with a smile before reaching for her purse. "But I gotta go to work."
Makenzie gave her father a kiss on the cheek before leaving the house. Taking in the beautiful sun before deciding to drive today instead of walking to the bakery. It wouldn't have been that far of a walk into town, only about 3 miles. Her coral red hair was a stark contrast to the rest of her family along with her bright green eyes.
