Abeer met Mishti's gaze as she was stood with Lalita, a mere few hundred feet away from him as he was sat down beside the Pandit Ji. Mishti tried her best to keep her facial expression neutral when she noticed he was trying to read the look on her face.
"Aunty" Mishti addressed Lalita, trying to be as d#mmmmmmiscreet as possible. Abeer smiled faintly as Pandit Ji continued to try & take his attention, but half of his focus was on Mishti.
"Aunty, please. Don't say any of this in front of him!" She pleaded, gesturing to Abeer casually. "Please!""But-" Lalita tried to protest, "Why-"
"Aunty, please!" She repeated her appeal to Lalita, just as Abeer's phone began to ring causing her full attention to go to him as he got up to answer the call.
"Hello? Nanko? What is it?" He asked then his eyes widened. "What!? But how!?" He said then sighed as Mishti rushed back over to him, followed by Lalita. "But-"
"Abeer!? What is it? What's the matter!?" She asked him & Abeer took a breath.
"Nanko, let me call you back. Yeah. Okay. Bye." He said then ended the call before turning to Mishti, putting his phone back into his jean's pocket. "Mishti-" he began to speak, then paused, glancing over to see both Lalita & the Pandit Ji were listening to their conversation, intently. "Come" he said taking Mishti's hand in his own. "Excuse us" he told both Lalit & the Pandit Ji politely as they exchanged confused looks before Abeer led Mishti to the side, away from their earshot.
"Abeer, what is it? What did Kunal say?"
"Yesterday I told Nanko to keep an eye on Baba today while we were here" He explained. "When I said changing the name on the card was all my idea, he got annoyed. So I explained to him what was going on so he said that he'd help us."
"Okay. &? What's he saying now?" She asked then Abeer sighed."He said Baba knows we're in Rajgarh" he began & Mishti's eyes widened. "Yeah & Nanko heard him tell someone that he's on his way!"
"Oh God, Abeer!" she said, her hand to her head. "What are we going to do now!?"
"Mishti-"
"Abeer, if he comes here & finds us investigating him then how would he react!? He wouldn't be happy about it, to say the least!"
"I know, but it's time." He said & her eyes widened when she heard him. "The water's gone over my head. I need to confront him. I need to answers!"
"Abee-"
"No!" He exclaimed. "I'm sick of all this. There's so much going on. But he has to answer me. Why is he doing all this!? What is he gaining!?"
"Abeer, listen to me" she said taking his hands. "I know you need answers. & I know you more than deserve those answers, but this is not the time. We can't go in there asking him questions until we have all the facts!"
"But Mish-""I know!" she sighed. "I want you to get to the truth too, but he's too cunning. We can't just confront him. Especially when he's coming down here! We need to see what else he's hiding first!" He said & Abeer sighed.
"Is there anything else?"
"Yes! There is!" She told him & he raised an eye brow."Really? What?"
"I'll tell you, but not here" She said glancing around their surroundings so he nodded, understanding what he was up to."Fine. Let's get out of here" He said, about to walk off.
"Beta" A voice said from behind Mishti & she turned to see Pandit Ji approaching them. "is everything okay?"
"Yes, Pandit Ji" Mishti smiled softly. "Everything's fine. We should get home. Everyone will be waiting for us"
"What about my Paro!?" Lalita rushed over "I want to see my Paro"
"Aunty" Mishti began. "I promise I will come back & bring you to see your sister. Right now isn't the right time. Right now we need to go home"
"But-"
"Abeer, let's go" She said & Abeer nodded, following Mishti as they began to walk off.
"Beta! Wait!" Pandit Ji exclaimed from behind the two of them & they turned to him. "I just remembered, Mehul's next door neighbour came up to me the other day. They said they saw Mehul come to his home recently & put some papers there. Maybe there's something there?" He suggested & Mishti looked at Pandit Ji in confusion. She turned to Abeer, who mirrored her confusion so she discreetly gestured to him with his eyes & he nodded back at her.
"Thank you Pandit Ji, we'll go & have a look before we go home"
"Yes! Good idea. You should go there." He nodded. "You never know what you might find there. You take care of yourselves" He said then turned to Parul's sister. "Lalita Beta, why don't you come with me?" He asked her. "I just remembered, I could do with your help with the pooja. Can you help me?"
"Me?" she asked, surprised & he nodded, smiling softly. "Sure, Pandit Ji"
"Abeer" Mishti began quietly as Pandit Ji turned to walk away from the two of them, with Lalita. "Are you sensing something's wrong, or is it just me?"
"No, its not just you. There's something going on, Mishti" He said as the two of them watched Lalita follow the Pandit Ji up the Mandir's stairs."What do you think we should do?" She asked him, sighing.
"Well, something tells me that going to Baba's home is completely out of the question!" Abeer rolled his eyes.
"But Abeer. What if we find some clue there?"
"What if we walk ourselves right in to trouble, Mishti?" He countered & she sighed in response. "What if it's a trap, waiting for us!?"
"True" She replied, her hand to her head.
All of a sudden, Abeer's phone rang, his eyes widening. Mishti leaned over to see the name on the caller ID of his phone; Baba.
