I grabbed his shoulder before he got out the car, "Sunny, what if there are creatures in that house." I looked into his eyes begging him to stay in the car. "Lilah! I'm sure there is no creature inside the house, okay stop being so paranoid! If any creature is in there we will set the house on fire! If not we will stay the night." I shook my head. "Okay, I'm trusting you Sunny." We both got off the car and headed for the front door. I watched as he walked into the house before me. Dead bodies everywhere. My heart broke for Sunny, his family was dead. We heard a noise in the room. I felt uneasy, could it be a creature? Sunny looked at me with fear in his eyes. "Lilah, did you hear that too?" He whispered, I shook my head yes. We walked towards the closed door. He opened the door slowly, and low and behold his dog, Rocco, I felt relieved. "Rocco, you lived!" He shouted, grabbing that poor dog and hugging him so tight he started to whimper. "Okay, is the reunion done yet?" I said anxiously. "Yes Delilah." "Sunny, can we please lock the doors?" He shook his head. "You get the back one, I'll lock the front one." We locked both doors. We sat on the couch. "Now what?" He looked down. "You, Rocco, and me need to stay the night here until we can figure out what's going on." I looked at him. "SUNNY! THE FUCKING WORLD IS ENDING!" I shouted. "Yes Delilah I'm aware of that! I lost my family." I got quiet. I scooted closer to him. "Its okay, it's going to be okay." I put my hand on his. "You are so sweet Delilah, it hurts because my mom just passed away a few weeks ago due to cancer." I remember that. Sunny was out of school for a whole month. I sighed. "It hurts because she was the only one who knew I could do it." Sunny is a "bad kid" he would skip class, smoke cigarettes, and break girls hearts. "Hey, Sunny can I ask you something?" He looked at me "Yes?" "Why did you decide to give me a chance? After all these years?" He smiled and kissed my forehead. "When my mom was passing away she looked at me and said, 'Sunny find the right girl, make me happy Son.' It stuck and my mom had always liked you Delilah, So did I but I was afraid of hurting your heart." He looked down. "What were the chances we would get stuck together in the apocalypse. " I said jokingly. " You are absolutely right. What were the chances we would get stuck together in the apocalypse. " he smiled at me. "So now what do we do?" I looked down at my feet. "We need to find out if there are more survivors, then we need to figure out what those creatures are, and we need to look for food! We need to stay alive like is the water still safe enough to drink?" I looked at him, "You really prepared yourself for a disaster like this huh? I wouldn't even have known about the water, It would have killed me if I drank it." He smiled. "I practically saved your life, no but seriously we need to check the water to see if it's okay to drink." He went to the kitchen, pulled out a test strip of some kind. "What's that?" "Its a water testing strip, to see if its acidic or alkaline." "Oh wow, you are really prepared." He glanced at me "The test strip is purple, which means it's okay to use and drink the water." I smiled in relief. He sighed. "Hey I have an idea. We have both had a terrible day. I say we wind down, just go to sleep and figure out what we are going to do tomorrow." He shook his head in agreement. We walked to his room, there was a bunk bed. The sun was fading very fast, I could see it through the curtains on the window. "You take the top one I'll take the bottom." I started climbing the ladder to the top bed, I laid down and this bed was more comfortable than anything Ive ever laid on."Goodnight Lilah." My eyes closing fast. "Good night Sunny." I was falling into a deep sleep.
