I hear people talking a few feet away from me, and I pick up a few words. "She was hypothermic, so we put some extra blankets on her." A few seconds pass, and someone else says something. I recognize the voice, it's the girl who rescued me. "Okay, good. I called the Coast Guard, and they said they didn't hear anything. I guess the ship probably went down too quickly for anyone to send an alert out." "Oh, the poor thing. What if her parents were on it?" The girl sighs. "Yeah, I know. The crazy thing is, why was she the only person to get out? Just doesn't add up." "We'll know more after she wakes up."

Okay, so they think I was on a ship that sunk, and was able to swim to shore. I can work with that. "When do you think she'll wake up?" "She's been out for a while, Alpha." The girl sighs. "I know, sorry. I'm just worried about her." Alpha. Is that the girl's name? The other person said it in a respectful way, so maybe. Somehow, it fits her really well. Maybe it's a title, like Princess or Queen. "I think it might be easier if I'm the only one in the room when she does. I'm the only person she's seen." I don't hear what the other person says.

I hear something scrape up beside me, and I jolt fully awake, startled. "Crap. I'm sorry," the girl says. She's sitting in a chair beside the bed I'm in. I look around the room, white walls, white floors; it looks really clean, and has a weird scent in the air. I run my eyes up the bed from my feet, there's a light blue blanket covering me, and I see I'm in a white dress.

Then I notice something strange in my right hand. Actually in my hand. It's a small tube, and I follow the tube up my body, seeing it is connected to a bag hanging on a rack with wheels, with clear liquid in the bag. I notice a drop go inside the tube, and I follow the liquid as it goes into my hand. There is a piece of sticky fabric keeping the tube still, and I go to rip it off.

"No, don't," the girl says, gently grabbing my left wrist. It's not in a mean way, like I could imagine that stupid sea King basically ripping my arm off. "It's just fluids. You were really dehydrated, which makes sense because I found you on a beach. I'm so glad that I found you when I did." Fluids? Dehydrated? I don't know what those words mean, but I do understand that she wants me to leave the tube alone. I pull my wrist out of her grip and drop my hand back to my side. She smiles. Yep, I was right.

I think back to when she found me, trying to put stuff together in my brain. I remember a blanket, wait, she called it a towel, being put over me, and then her picking me up, the rest is blank. Until I woke up here. I look at the girl. Wow, she's really pretty. She has long, wavy blonde hair and blue eyes, and I notice she's wearing a red top with something dark blue covering her thighs, being split in the middle and wrapping around her legs.

"Where am I?" She smiles. "You're at my house. I brought you here after I found you, and you're in the infirmary. Really glad I have one, since you didn't have anything with you." I nod, and go back to checking over myself. I hiss between my teeth when my right foot moves. "Ow." "What's wrong?" The girl looks worried. I point down at my foot. "Can I look?" She looks at me for permission. I nod, and she walks to the foot of the bed, gently folding the blanket up over my legs. The girl touches my left foot, and I don't react. She touches my right foot, and I wince. "Oh, yeah, that's a sprain. I'll ask the nurse to wrap it. Mind if she comes in?"

I nod. "By the way, I'm Lillian." "Serena." Lillian smiles and walks out of the room. A few minutes later, she walks back in with a woman wearing a light green dress and white apron. "Hey, I'm glad you're awake," the woman says to me, smiling. "I'm Cecilia. Mind if I look at your foot?" I shake my head. "It's okay." She nods, before walking over to a shelf and grabbing something. I watch as Cecilia grabs a chair and sits at the foot of the bed.
