Our school, Ash Minton High School, is only like, one block away from my house so we walk to school everyday. Our school isn't that big for a high school. There was a total of maybe two through three hundred people there.
I was late and missed my first class today, so I went strait to science lab. I hate science. I mean, it isn't like I'm going to grow up and be a scientist or something. "Hey Rina, do you understand any of this anyway?" I asked. "Not a clue. Just pretend to be awake and wait for the bell." She replied. Now that was a lot easier said than done. They expect us to get up early and then sit in boring classes for hours. They're practically begging us to fall asleep, just so they can punish us for it.
I nearly Jumped out of my skin when the bell rang. "Hey Lucy, Do you wanna skip the next class?" Rina asked. "We already missed math, I don't think we should skip." I replied. "Come on, I was thinking we could go to the janitors closet and talk. I brought cookies in my back pack that I made last night." Rina said, trying to persuade me. "fine." I shrugged.
We sat down and she took out the cookies. There were like eight different kinds. Chocolate chip, double chocolate chip, raspberry, oatmeal, white chocolate macadamia nut, and other custom recipes of hers. "Do you ever sleep?" I asked. All the sudden, her smile turned into a dead serious frown and her eyes went flat. "Sleep is only for humans. Creatures such as I do not need sleep.... JUST KIDDING! But no, most of the time I don't feel the need to sleep. I usually ponder around doing whatever comes to mind." she said. "Dang. That was intense. You are human right?" I asked, having a little doubt. She went to answer but the bell cut her off. The hour passed so fast. We exited, trying not to be seen, and headed over to our lockers. I glanced down the hallway just for a second, but before i realized it, I was staring. Jason was right down the hall. He is so perfect. I wish I could talk to him. "Ooh looks like you see mister hotty over there." Rina teased. "Shut up." I said sarcastically. "Why don't you go talk to him?" Rina asked me. "Well because he is Jason. He is super popular, smart, cute and i'm me." I replied. "Your hopeless. LETS GO!" Rina said enthusiastically. The next thing I know she grabbed my wrist, rather firmly, and rushed down the hallway. I looked up and I was right in Jason's face. "Umm, hi?" Jason said. I made some sort of stuttering noise trying to think of any words to say. "Hi Jason! You remember Lucy and I right?" she asked. "Of course, I don't forget a face. What's up?" he said. "We just wanted to say hi. We saw you randomly standing here. What are you doing?" Rina said. I was face to face with Jason, like i always dreamed, and im sitting here saying nothing, doing nothing, and being invisible, as usual. "Im at my locker. Getting my books for next class. How have you been Rina?" He asked. "Jason!! Come on we are going to be late for class." Piper said as she walked up to him. Piper was the most popular and beautiful girl in school. Probably one of the nicest too. She had Brown sparkly eyes and brown, wavy brown hair. "Hey Lucy, hey Rina." she continued. "H-hey Piper." I said, finally being able to speak. "Well Jason and I have to go to class. Would yall like to sit with us at lunch?" she asked. "Sure!" Rina said enthusiastically. "Ok, see ya then. bye guys." Jason said.
"You were right in front of him and you didn't even say a word." Rina said on our way to the next class. "I couldn't. I felt like my entire body was a shadow and I Was spectating your conversation from a different place." I explained. "well you better talk to him at lunch." Rina said.
During our next class my mind slipped into a day dream about Jason. Sometimes I couldn't help it. I would be here, then I was with Jason, living something that would never really happen. We were on a roof. Somewhere I don't really know where. We had all different kinda of fruits and vegetables in front of us along with delicious looking sandwiches. "Does it all look good?" He asked me. "It looks amazing. You didn't have to bring all this though." I said. "Well I wanted to make sure you had everything you wanted." Jason replied. "In that case, did you bring dessert?" I asked. "Indeed i did. What's a date without Dessert? that would be a nightmare!" Jason said. As I opened my mouth i realized Rina was calling my name. It was time for lunch. Time to face more embarrassment. Still, I was kinda excited to sit with Jason.
