"Mr. and Mrs. Smith?"
I looked up from Rose, at the nurse holding a bundle of pink.
"Would you like to meet your new daughter?" the nurse handed the newborn baby to Rose and she cradled the child in her arms.
I was awestruck. She was the most beautiful creature I had ever seen. She was so tiny, and so pink, and so.... perfect.
"Well dad, isn't she something?" Rose said to me. The new "name" sounding gorgeous off her lips directed towards me.
"She's beautiful." I whispered staring at the most precious thing sitting in the arms of my most precious wife.
Just then her eyes fluttered open meeting mine.
"Hello there, little one." I said smiling at her. She looked around the room seeing the brand new world that surrounded her. She locked eyes with me again and smiled back at me. It was a beautiful smile.
"I think she likes you, Doctor." Rose said to me.
"You think?" I looked at my wife, and she nodded. I reached my arms out to my darling new daughter, "Can I hold her?"
"Of course. Be careful, watch her head." Rose said as she passed the precious bundle of joy into my arms.
I crouched down next to the hospital bed that Rose was still lying down in so she could see our new child's face.
"You know what, Doctor? I think she's got your eyes."
"Yeah?" I looked into the pools of brown on my daughter's face.
Rose gently ran her fingers across the tiny forehead of our baby. "What do you think we should name her?"
"Oh I don't know. There are too many names in all the universes, and we have to find a perfect one to fit this perfect being."
Rose continued stroking her forehead when she bumped the blanket to reveal some red-ish locks of hair.
I was completely shocked. I pushed the rest of the blanket off her head to reveal a full head of hair. Red hair.
"She's a ginger! How can she be ginger? She's ginger!!" I couldn't contain my joy and.
Rose just laughed at me. "Well, my dad's ginger. And you got some of Donna's DNA, right? She's quite ginger, so that's how."
"My daughter. A ginger! Brilliant!" I smiled stroking the darling little red locks.
"You know, we could name her that." Rose said looking up at me.
"What?"
"Ginger. How about it? Ginger Smith."
"Ginger Smith." I said to see how the name tasted on my tongue. "What do you think of that name? Huh? Ginger?" I tickled the little baby and she smiled the most brilliant smile.
"I think she likes it." Rose spoke softly. "Our ginger daughter, Ginger."
"Imagine that! Me! Having a ginger kid! You know, I bet there's some new regeneration of me that's a ginger. Well I'm just stuck here with this....this..this.. brown!" I said pulling at my own sticky-uppy locks.
"And this Ginger!" Rose pointed to our dear, darling daughter.
"You know what, Rose Tyler? Rose Smith?" I said, always wanting to say the name her maiden name as well as her new married name.
"What's that, John Smith? John Tyler?"
"I think you and I are going to raise up one brilliant daughter! One brilliant, ginger daughter!" I smiled big and wide at my stunning wife and she smiled big and wide back at me.
"Hey!!" A whisper came from the door. We looked up and saw Jackie and Pete Tyler coming in to meet their new granddaughter.
I stood up and walked over to introduce the two to the new child.
"Pete, Jackie, meet Ginger Smith. Your granddaughter."
