PROLOGUE | WELCOME TO COMPANY 8

You ran across the platform, panting with every step you took as you forced yourself to keep on going despite your aching muscles.

Feeling lightheaded, you walked over to a nearby concrete pillar and leaned back onto it as you attempted to catch your breath.

With a hand on your chest, you gripped tightly to your shirt, wrinkling the once straight fabric as you squeezed your eyes shut tightly.

After a few seconds of resting, you leaned your head back and looked up at the ceiling of the train station and narrowed your eyes as you thought back to the interaction you had with your friend only a few minutes earlier.

"Shinra, where are you going?" You looked at the taller teen's back who was frozen in place from your words.

He reluctantly looked over his shoulder, giving you a nervous smile that didn't comfort you that much. "Don't worry about it, I'll meet you at Company 8."

You narrowed your eyes at him and folded your arms over each other. "What do you mean by that? If you forgot, we're supposed to go to the Company 8 building together- Wait! Shinra!"

[E/C] eyes widened as Shinra ran off, his figure getting smaller and smaller within seconds before you could even react.

"Shinra! Get back here!"

You ran off after him, almost tripping over yourself as you ran and ran after your friend who was showing little to no signs of stopping. It was as if he trying to pretend he couldn't hear you.

'Why does he always have to be such an idiot? Is there a reason why he likes to run off like that all the time, especially when we're supposed to do something together?'

Taking a deep breath you stood up straight and dusted off your clothes as you prepared to get ready to continue on with your search that in hindsight you should have given up a few minutes ago.

'I can't believe I'm doing this...'

"Did you see that kid that got involved with that infernal attack earlier?"

Your eyes snapped open at the words, the image of your friend popping into your head as you continued to listen in onto the conversation between the two older women standing a few feet away from you.

'Kid... Infernal...'

Your eye twitched.

'It's him. I know it's him... Can't he stay out of trouble for five minutes?'

The two women didn't have to say much for you to know that it was your missing friend that was the kid that was involved in the attack they were talking about.

Looking at the women from a distance you took a deep breath before darting over to them, stopping in front of them to give them a serious glare.

They let out a surprised yelp at the girl that randomly appeared in front of them and gave them a surprisingly intimidating glare.

They barely had enough time to process your random appearance before you inched closer to them as you narrowed your eyes.

"Where is this infernal exactly?"

You raced across the platform in the direction given to you by the two women. You pushed past strangers earning their scorn and glares as you yelled out apologizes that went unheard.
