It had been almost a month since Louis had last seen Harry and Gemma. He felt like it was his fault. He knew it was because of what happened, and since then he had just felt guilty.

Though, he was confused. He didn't understand why Gemma was that way towards Harry, and why Harry said those things about her. He just didn't understand it. He felt like there were so many secrets they hadn't told him. Were they trying to protect themselves from something? then again, Gemma was the one who seemed more worried and by the looks, knew more about him than Louis did. So maybe she was trying to protect him from something? what was it? he really wanted to know. He was their friend, and sometimes it seemed like he wasn't.

Friends are supposed to tell each other everything. He understood if they just weren't ready yet, or not comfortable with telling him; But he still felt he should at least know a little bit.

He sighed and shook his head, as he continued to read his book. It was, The Hobbit, one of his favorite novels ever written. He had always been fascinated with novels as a kid, it brought great imagination to him. Of course he grew out of those imaginations, but he still loved to spend his time reading them.

He was so drawn to the book, that he didn't hear the doorbell ring. He furrowed his eyebrows, closing the book. He got up out of the bed, and made his way downstairs. He didn't invite anyone to come over, nor did anybody call him.

When he opened the door, he was met with a familiar face. He looked at her while she didn't say a word. He let her in, closing the door.

She sat down awkwardly on the couch, and fiddled with her fingers. There was pure silence, until one finally spoke up.

"I need to explain."

"And after he came back from rehab, we thought he would have gotten better. That he wouldn't get into that stuff again. He even made a promise." She continued, wiping a tear from her eye. Louis was sitting next to Gemma, as she explained everything to him. The things she's said, he would have never expected from someone like Harry.

"But one day, we got a call from the police station. Harry had been arrested for drink driving. He was only 16 at the time so it was illegal. He passed a red light and didn't stop until the cops got to him. That day, I never looked at him the same again. Not even our mum. You should have seen the hurt in her eyes when she found out."

"Does she still look at him that way?" Louis asked, and immediately her facial expression changed.

"Our mum left us a few years ago. We never knew why, but one day she was just gone." She hesitantly answered, looking down. Louis looked at her confusingly after she said that.

"W- wait, your mum left?" She nodded, not looking up. So Harry lied? He questioned to himself. Not only did he lie, but he made Louis believe him; But why? "He always blamed himself for it. He thought he was the reason for her leaving."

"Wait what about your father? is he still around?" She shook her head, still not looking up.

"He passed 3 years after mum left. He was getting sick and would never go to the doctor to see what was wrong with him. Before he could get help, it was already too late. We never knew what the sickness was, but everyday I look back and just wish he would have listened, and went to the doctor like we said." She sniffed, and wiped her eyes again. "I wish we would've pushed him harder."

He rested a comforting hand on her shoulder, rubbing it to comfort her. He didn't know what to say, but he was angry with Harry. Angry at the fact that he lied to him about his own mother, and why they moved here. Louis immediately put the pieces together. They moved here so that Harry could get better help. No wonder he doesn't always see them. He also understood why Gemma always had to be around him, to make sure he didn't get that way again.
