It was already dark outside. As winter approaches, the days become shorter, and earlier, night falls to the earth, revealing its cold dark embrace. For some reason, the parents were delayed, but this didn't bother the girl. Stacks of books and textbooks were piled on the table, half of which were hardly useful for high school students. Each time she sat down at this cursed table to do her homework, (Y/N) thought that someday all this would collapse and bury her under tons of paper and knowledge forever.

Parents often lingered at work, but these were moments of peace and quiet when a young lady could give free flight to her wishes and thoughts. Studying, exact sciences, formulas and etc. never really interested her, she learned them only to please her parents. Own pride also played a role, but a small one, not so important. What the girl's heart and soul really were drawn to - was creativity. Singers, artists, and writers always seemed to her almost unearthly creatures. They created worlds with brush strokes, letters, and sounds, adding a part of themselves there. They could be compared with wizards, in a world that smelled of burning cinder and dust, and where no one believes in magic.

But, unfortunately, problems in algebra don't recognize such emotional impulses, and already for a bloody hour, (Y/ N) tried to complete one single problem. As much she tried and fought, but each time during the tests other results came out. And for the Nth time, any other answer hasn't matched the last one. In desperation, the girl threw the textbook at the wall. A weighty book thudded against the wall and fell heavily on the floor. At that moment, the front door clicked, announcing the return of her parents.

"Sweetheart, we are at home," came the voice of the mother.

"You are late today," said the young woman, stepping out into the corridor.

"They were kept late with work," the woman answered, kissing her daughter on both cheeks. Father only stroked the girl's head and winked conspiratorially.

"You won't believe what we found near the entrance," only now the girl noticed that one man's hand was hidden under his coat, in that place somehow moved strangely. - Not even what, but whom. Will you try to guess?

" A cat?" - She immediately suggested, but in response, she received only a shake of his head. - "Then, a dog?'

'"Nearly. It only will take him some time to become a dog", - with these words, a charming white muzzle with black triangular ears protruded from under her father's coat. The puppy squinted at the bright light, but his unusual eyes' color immediately attracted (Y/N)'s attention. She never thought dogs can have such eyes. The left was deep blue, like a benitoite* sky, drowning in the vast ocean, and the right one reminded of the wide prairies and valleys with its emerald color.

Benitoite is an extremely rare that is best known for being the official state gemstone of California. It is a barium titanium silicate mineral, usually blue in color, that is found in that have been altered by hydrothermal.

Usually, the puppies, being far from home in strangers' hands, were frightened and trembling, but there was nothing like that in his eyes. He was wary, but looked around with curiosity, as if collecting information and analyzing.

"That cannot be real. Such puppies don't roam the street. Moreover, he is just too clean and well-groomed for a tramp."

"Heh, it seems she figured it out," - the man said, ruffling his hair with his free hand, looking at his wife guiltily. From her, he received only a heavy sigh, as if saying: "And I told you."

"Now this is your puppy. So love and take care of him, and he will be your faithful and loyal friend."

At this point, the dog snorted, but it sounded rather contemptuous as if he had decided to express his opinion on this matter. The father ignored this and passed the puppy to his daughter. Caught in the hands of a new owner, he sniffed carefully but finding nothing suspicious, allowed himself to be stroked. The touch of soft fur on her palm raised a warm feeling in her chest, all the problems smoothly crawled to the background, although at first, the girl wasn't very fond of the fact that she was hanged with care for an unwanted pet.
