Katniss's P.O.V

Effie leads us into the Justice Building. She sends us to our separate rooms so our families can say goodbye. My mother and Prim come in. Prim comes and hugs me. She holds me tight and cries on me.

"Prim, listen to me." I say.

She looks up at me.

"Don't take any food from them. It isn't worth having your name in more times. You don't have to worry about food. Gale will bring it to you." I explain.

She holds me even tighter. "Just try to win." She says, voice breaking.

"I will try. For you Prim." I say.

She lets me go. I wipe her face. She takes my hand. She opens it and puts something in it then closes it. I open it. It's the mockingjay pin I gave her.

"To protect you." She says.

"Thank you." I say.

I kiss her forehead and hug her. I then go to my mother.

"You have to promise me that you won't shut her out." I say serious.

"I won't." She says.

"You have to promise me. I'm not going to be there, so you'll have to be." I say.

She looks to the floor. I hug her.

"Please....don't put her through that." I say.

She cries on me. Prim hugs me. We all hold onto each other. The door opens. Peacekeepers are there.

"Time's up." He says.

"Katniss don't go!" Prim says starting to cry again.

"It's okay, Prim. I'll see you soon." I say.

My mother and her are dragged out by the Peacekeeper.

"I love you, Prim." I say, but it's right as the door closes.

I sit down in a chair. I take deep breaths. The door opens again. I stand. It's Gale. He hugs me.

"You're going to win. I know it." He says.

He lets me go. He holds my shoulders tight. "You have to get a bow. And if there isn't one, then find a way to get one. You know how to hunt." he says.

"But not people, Gale." I say.

"How much difference can there be?" He asks.

'Weapons.' I think.

"Take care of my family." I say.

"I will. I promise." He says.

The door opens again. "It's time to go." the Peacekeeper says.

I hug him again. "Don't let them starve!" I say.

"I won't. I'll see you soon, promise." He says.

The Peacekeeper shuts the door.

'I have to do this....for them.' I think.

Peeta's P.O.V.

After my family came to say goodbye, Peacekeepers come to get me. Katniss doesn't look to be so effected. I try not to show that I was. I'm not even out of my own District and I'm afraid to die. My mother told me I wouldn't win. And I believe her. I won't. But Katniss, on the other hand, has a very good possibility of winning. Effie, Katniss and I are escorted by car to the train station. I've never been on a train. But this isn't a normal train that comes. It's a Tribute Train. It's high end and there is everything we ever imagined.

"You two are free to eat." Effie says.

"I'm okay." I say.

"Me too." Katniss says.

"Suit yourselves. Dinner will be served in about two hours. But in the mean time, your mentor, Haymitch Abenathy will come and talk to you." Effie explains.

We all sit down. We wait patiently for Haymitch to come. Twenty minutes pass. He doesn't show up still.

Effie sighs impatiently. "I'll be right back you two." she says.

She stands and leaves. Katniss and I are alone.

"Do you think he'll help?" I ask Katniss.

She doesn't say anything. She keeps looking out the window.

"I think so. Once he isn't drunk. He did win this." I say.

She still says nothing. "Help isn't a bad thing, Katniss." I say.

She looks at me. She has a confused look on her face but looks serious too.

"What?" I ask.

"I've had help before. It saved my life. But now I don't need any. I can help myself." She says.

"Who helped you?" I ask.

She looks back out the window. The door then opens. A man comes in a room. He has to be Haymitch. He stumbles around.

'Definately drunk.' I think.

He grabs a bottle of what must be alcohol from the table.

"Congrats." He says and comes to sit down.

"So...." I say. and clear my throat.

"So...what? What do you want me to say? That you'll win? Or you'll go home?" He says sarcastically.

"That you're you going to help up." I say.

He shrugs and takes a drink.

"So why are you  here if you're not going to help us?" Katniss asks.

"For the refreshments." Haymitch says.

"Maybe that's enough of that." I say.

I got get the bottle from him. He pins me back with his foot.

He sighs. "You had to go...and make me spill this all on me." He says. "I'll just finish this alone."

He stands up and leaves.

"Well that went well." Katniss says and sighs.

"I think he'll come around." I say and stand up.

"It's no use, Peeta." She says.

"I'll reason with him." I say.

I leave to go talk to him.
