nova's pov :
"nova!"
i turn around to see ethan running after me. i contemplate in my head if i should stop and listen but my feet keep walking.
"don't leave!"
i stop walking and my heart beat starts to beat even faster. hearing his foot steps come even closer, i turn around.
"why are you leaving?" he asks, out of breath
"i have a headache." i point at my head
"you're upset?" his eyebrows furrow
of course he would remember.
"ethan. i need to go. grayson's waiting."
"grayson came?" he asks
"yes. i needed a ride."
"and you couldn't ask perla or your mom?" his voice becomes more stern
"why the fuck is it such a big deal that your brother is picking me up!" i yell
his eyes widen at my sudden outburst and i begin to walk backwards.
"i can't stay here." i chuckle lightly
"no. i swear nova if you leave-"
"what ethan! you're not going to do anything. alison is here. she's your fucking girlfriend. i'm not. i'm your best friend." my voice breaks
"please stay."
"why ethan?"
"i just... i need you here."
"you don't." i smile sadly
"you know? you promised me so many things. and i believed all of them. you made so many plans with me and never did cancel them but alison was always there."
i step closer to him and look up at him in the eyes.
"you know that day you and alison fought? i came over with your favorite things. but i saw alison hugging you at your front door so i drove away."
stepping back, i feel tears fall onto my cheeks and i laugh coldly.
i turn around and begin walking to grayson's car. my hand falls onto the handle of the passenger door but i hear a voice yelling for me.
"nova. don't get in that fucking car!"
my heart starts beating even faster and my mind is yelling at me to get into the car.
"... goodbye ethan.
