Alex's family chatted happily about their day during dinner and Lola noticed Alex did not speak even a single word of what happened at the beginning of the day. She was curious as to why he spoke not of the incident so after they were excused to go to Alex's room she asked him.
"Why did you not speak about your troubles at school?"
She asked with a hint of concern but she masked it with her curiosity. Alex sighed heavily and sat down on his bed leaving the plush black chair for Lola to sit in. He looked Lola in the eyes then looked out the window at the darkened sky.
"I don't want to cause trouble for my family. It's not as bad as it looks actually"
Lola frowned and lent forward in the chair.
"Don't be stupid Alex. No one should be picked on like that it is rude and inhumane"
The room fell into a uncomfortable silence as Alex thought over what Lola has said. The door slowly creeped open on rusty hinges and then the head of Lucy popped in. She beamed once she saw her brother and Lola.
"I was wondering if you guys wanted desert?"
Lucy asked with an exited voice. Lola placed a uneasy hand on her stomach as her expression twisted into horror.
"I don't think my stomach could handle that but thanks anyway"
She said which made Lucy pout. Alex kindly declined and after Lucy had left Lola started feeling uneasy. She held her hand in front of her mouth then shot out of her chair and sprinted to the closest bathroom then through up all the con-tense of the evening. Alex ran in after her but ran into the bathroom and froze. Slowly he walked over to her and patted her back as she vomited into the toilet. She groaned and dry-hagged after everything was gone then she wiped her mouth and flushed the toilet. She opened her palm and a lollie pop rested in the centre. She unwrapped it then stuck it in her mouth.
"Won't you just throw that up as well?"
Alex asked after awhile of silence. Lola shock her head and sat on the toilet seat.
"Actually this is the only type of food I can eat without having to throw it up. Good thing I have a sweet tooth Huh"
She chuckled then stood up and wondered out of the bathroom and down the hall into Alex's room. Alex followed her with a worried expression plaster on his face.
"So are you ok now?"
He asked. She walked over to the book on Alex's desk and tapped on the cover making it fly open and flick to the page with the blood stained symbol. Lola smirked at Alex before tapping the middle of the symbol with her ginger tip.
"Yeah I'm fine. Don't worry about me"
And with that said she was gone with a puff of smoke the only thing left behind. Alex closed the book then shut off his light and went to sleep with a yawn.
Alex awoke to the loud and annoying sound of his alarm clock beeping every second that passed. He let out a groan of annoyance before slamming his hand down on the button and sat up making his covers tumble on to his lap. He rubbed his eyes tiredly before Lola appeared. She had another lollie pop in between her lips and once the smoke cleared she walked over to his bed and started shaking him even thought he was already awake.
"It's 7:30 am you should be at school. Your alarm clock has been going off like crazy for the last hour and a half"
She grumbled with obvious displeasure. Alex huffed and folded his arms over his chest childishly.
"Why didn't you just turn it off and wake me up yourself then"
She grumbled under her breath before standing up straight and flattening out her dress.
"Don't be silly the only time I can come out of the book is when you are conscious otherwise I am trapped in there until you wake up but if you fall asleep and I'm out of the book then I can do as I please"
She threw his school uniform at him then vanished once again with a puff of smoke. She is snappy today. Alex thought to himself which earns him a snappy reply from Lola. I was trapped inside that damned book until you woke up. Do you know how boring it is in there without anything to do?. Alex sighed. I suppose not, you haven't even told me what it is inside the book. He heard her sigh heavily before replying with a single word. Lonely. He was surprised at the sound of sadness and longing in her voice but she soon snapped him out of it by yelling at him in his mine making him flinch. Get dressed and stop wasting my time. He groaned then quickly got changed into his uniform and packed his bag before darting out the door shoving a pease of toast his mother made for him, in his mouth. He jogged all the way to his school and as soon as he got there he went to his class room and sat down in his seat. A nice looking boy with wavy blonde hair and sparkling blue eyes came out of no where and sat in front of him and turned in his seat.
"Hey Alex. How yah doing?"
He asked and he sighed heavily before playing the book down in front of him.
"I'm fine. Shouldn't you be hanging out with your friends over there?"
Asked asked and pointed to a group of boys messing around before the bell. The boy frowned at him.
"You know I like hanging out with you before class"
He said and Alex started mumbling under his breath. Is this that leo you were talking about?. Lola asked out of curiosity. Yeah. Alex mumbled in his head. Leo started talking about his little brother, Max, hanging around with Lucy this weekend and Alex would nod every now and then to act like he was really listening but Lola knew by listening into his thoughts that he was more worried about the book. He was worried about if he lost it or somehow dropped it in some water which made Lola laugh. Alex stop worrying your going to get wrinkles if you keep frowning. The book will be fine it has lasted centuries and if you drop it in water it will stay fine. It's waterproof. Alex sighed in relief making leo stop his rambling and stare at him before frowning.
"Seriously Alex what's up with you?"
Alex shrugged and yawned tiredly.
"Maybe I'm just still tied. I wasn't woken up in the best of ways"
He mumbled and then scowled. Lola I'm talking about you. He said in his mind knowing she was listening in. She laughed but didn't reply knowing it will only anger him.
