Lola smiled at Lucy then offered her some candy, from where she got that, Alex had no idea. They started chatting then Lucy stopped and turned towards Alex.
"Mum said to tell you to stay away from that creepy old house you used to play in. She says it's going to get knocked down soon because of all of the people going missing inside of it"
Alex took out his phone and went on to an app that shows him the latest news reports. Sure enough the old run down house was posted on the news and was warning everyone to stay away. Lola frowned and took the phone from Alex and read the report about people wanting into the house and not being heard of again. Lola looked up from the phone and straight into Alex's eyes. This is not good. Lola directed her thoughts to Alex and he nodded with worry clear in his eyes. Lola flashed a smile at Lucy before handing her back the phone.
"You should go down stares and check on your mother"
Lucy giggled and nodded before dashing out of the room. Lola turned to Alex frowning and as soon as he saw the look in Lola's eyes he noticed something was not quite right.
"The abandoned building the news showed on the phone was surrounded by a thick evil cloud. Humans can not see the cloud but it is obvious to me as it if for you to see a storm cloud."
She explained before wondering over to the window and sat down on the sill. She sighed heavily then looked back at Alex with her grey eyes suddenly filled with a emotion Alex has never seen Lola let out before, fear. This fear wasn't for her own life but the lives of others who ventured into the abandoned building and never came back out.
"Are you up for a little exploring?"
She asked. Alex found himself confused by her words but shrugged his shoulders anyway and nodded. She grinned then stood up and started swiftly gliding over to the door.
"Then come child we shall see what this abandoned building is all about"
She said. Her words put Alex on edge and suddenly he didn't feel like going out anymore.
"If you told me we were going to go into the abandoned building then I would of said no. Anyway mum said not to go near the house."
He cried in alarm as he stumbled behind Lola, desperately trying to keep up with her quick pace.
"They are only guide lines you should most likely listen too but unfortunate we ain't going to listen to them. We need to look at the house before anyone else gets hurt"
He called a loud goodbye threw out the house before the two stepped out of the front door and started walking along the footpath. Lola enjoyed the moment of bliss before she was knocked back into reality with Alex's annoying wining.
"Come on Lola we can still go back"
She spun around on the balls of her feet making Alex stumble back a few steps. She glared at him before wrinkling her nose in mock disgust.
"And to think I thought you were a real man. This is pitiful Alex, shameful really"
He groaned as he realised she was trying to get him to go with her and he hated that it was working. He had a feeling in his stomach that he really wanted to impress Lola and he was not sure why. He sighed and slumped his shoulders in defeat making Lola smirk in victory.
"Fine, just don't tell me I didn't warn you"
He grumbled then they began to walk again. Lola followed Alex, remembering Lucy said he has been there before and stayed quiet. She looked into the sky and narrowed her eyes once she saw the sun had set leaving the street in darkness besides a few dim street lights. They drew closer to their destination and the closer they got the more Alex felt the need to run away and hide. Once they had stopped a few houses away from the abandoned building Alex seemed to remember all the memory's he shared with the house.
"I used to think this place was so cool back when I was younger, a girl in my neighbour hood named Pam and I used to play in this house when we were little"
Lola's eyes snapped over to Alex then she frowned.
"You idiot, maybe that could of triggered the demon to emerge"
Alex shock his head with sadness filling his eyes.
"No we only played in it twice, the stares broke when she was running down them and she was crushed so I ran for help but it was too late"
As Alex told this story Lola's worry seemed to double.
"It's possible Pam is the demon that has killed so many people."
Alex crossed his arms stubbornly and shock his head.
"No way, Pam was a nice kid and she would never kill anyone even after death"
Lola looked deep into Alex's eyes making his stubbornness waver.
"People change Alex even if you don't want them too, jealousy, anger, envy, they are all bad emotions that can cause people to snap and turn to the bad side even a young girls soul. Even when your dead you can see all the different things that happen around your soul and that includes all the happy little kids running into the house where she is forced to stay and so maybe envy changed her soul and she started killing everyone who entered the house"
Alex looked up at the large old house and sighed.
"I guess you know more about souls then me"
He muttered with a depressed tone. Yellow police tape surrounded the old house with warning signs set up around the forbidden sight. As they walked closer Lola noticed something familiar around the house, a well known aurora and she knew exactly who was inside that house but why, she had no idea. Walking into the abandoned house the two were quiet although Alex felt a knot tighten in his stomach and twist painfully whenever the loud wind rattled the house that looked like it could collapse at any moment.
"Stay vigilant"
Lola whispered as she crept threw the house. They entered the living room with dust covering every inch of the place. Holes could be detected in the ceiling and cracks spread across the walls with spots of mould and different types of stains but what was noticed more was the red stains. Blood splattered over the old walls and even a few bloodied hand prints could be seen.
"This isn't creepy or anything"
Alex whispered sarcastically only to receive a glare from lola who froze when hearing a creek from the other room. Swallowing hard the two entered the next room, a kitchen, only to find blood covering the entire room this time and not just patches of blood. It's as if someone painted the walls with blood and it didn't smell the nicest either. A horrid stench drifted into the room from the pantry so without another word Lola walked swiftly over to the pantry door and flung it open. The putrid smell hit her like a punch to the face making her stumble back and cover her nose to try and block the smell of decaying flesh and rotting garbage. What laid inside the pantry made Alex turn around and throw up his latest meal. A rotting body of what used to be a young girl laid in a heap on the floor of the pantry with rats and maggots feasting on her remains. Lola turned away and covered her mouth with tears brimming her eyes.
"How disgusting. Just the thought of a young girl dying in here is enough to give me nightmares but actually seeing and smelling the rotting remains, I can't even explain how I'm feeling right now"
She muttered with a single stray tear rolling down her pale cheek and dropping on to her hand.
"I know how I fell, disgusted at the monster that would do this to her"
Alex roared in anger as he marched past the girl not even sparing her a second glance. He had all he could take and he wished he would never see another decaying body like that ever again. Lola turned back around and stared down in to the glassy eyes being feasted on by a rat.
"May you somehow find peace and rest your mind knowing we will kill whatever did this to you. Poor child"
She whispered then quickly followed after Alex to stop his ranting. She caught up to him standing at the base of the stairs, staring in horror at what he saw at the top. The young girl he used to play with, Pam, stood on the very top step glaring down at him with fiery hatred burning in her dark eyes.
"How dare you come back after what you did to me, you beast"
Lola stepped up beside Alex and stared into the young girls eyes.
"You are the beast here spirit. You captured and haunted many innocent children and in fact their is one in the pantry in the kitchen being eaten by rats and maggots. You call him a beast then what will that make you?"
She hissed. The spirit on the top of the stares smirked and crossed her arms over her chest showing off the many cuts and bruises covering her non existent skin.
"She wondered into here on her own it's not my fault she went into the panty and got herself stuck. No one even thought to look inside this house so she reminds rotting in my kitchen. I offered to play hide and seek but it looks like she took the game too far"
Lola clenched her teeth so she didn't blurt out any unnecessary insults at the spirit and Alex found himself lost for words.
"It was you who trapped her inside the pantry wasn't it"
Lola mumbled and the girl laughed loudly and glided down the stairs.
"Let's play a game shall we. I'll go hide and you find me"
Lola smirked and lifted up her hand clenched it into a fist.
"And when I find you you will experience a pain worse then death but you already know what that feels like don't you"
The girl sneered at her then vanished into thin air. Let the games begin. Lola thought then took off running up the stairs avoiding the large hole in the middle where the girl must of fallen through when she died. Mould covered every crack up the stares and part of the ceiling and floors was missing. She checked every dirty room until she entered what looked like the master bed room and found the spirit crouching down low in the corner of the room behind the bed.
"Found you"
Lola sneered then lunged at the girl over the bed and was about to tackle her but the girl vanished again leaving only the echo of her laughter behind and Lola to tumble to the hard floor with a gasp. She got up and continued to search rooms until she was back at the stair case looking down at Alex who unfortunate is backed up into the wall by none other then Pam's spirit.
"How could you betray me like that by leaving me and running away as soon as I fell threw those stairs?"
She chocked on a sob then became angry and raised her hand to scratch Alex but she stopped mid slash when Alex cried for her to stop and to let him explain.
"I didn't run away I left to go get help but by the time I came back with my parents and your parents you had already stopped breathing and you had a wooden plank sticking out of your stomach. Look Pam it wasn't my fault you died I knew I couldn't help you by myself so I went to get others"
He blurted in panic and searched her pale face for any sort of emotion but all she did was freeze and stare at him looking like she's about to cry.
"I-is that true?"
She sniffled and Alex nodded frantically.
"Yes it is I would never abandon my friend when she needs me the most"
While Alex and Pam's spirit talked Lola crept down the stares ready to attack. She stayed as silent as she could before leaping down the remainder of the stares. Pam's spirit whirled around and screamed before vanishing again and reappearing in the kitchen. Alex took immediate action and sprinted in after her but before Lola could follow to protect him the spirit had already slammed the door shut and locked it. Lola looked down at her pale hands with worry in her eyes and muttered curses under her breath when she was unable to kick down the door.
"In this frail body I am useless. Why did I have to be so eager to investigate so soon after my realise from my impressment in the book?"
She muttered then slammed her small fists into the door screaming Alex's name.
"Are you ok?"
She yelled threw the thick wooden door.
"I-I'm I-injured"
Lola gritted her teeth then sucked in a deep breath and started chanting unreadable foreign words under her breath so no one could hear what she was muttering. As soon as she started chanting a blinding bright white light illuminated from her entire body and engulfed the room in her light. The wind picked up in the room, just like when she was first realised from the book, and once the bright light vanished, Lola was left standing at a broken down door in all her demonic glory. Long pointed claws grew from her finger tips and her eyes had changed from the dull grey ones to purple snake like eyes. Her skin had paled and her now pointed ears poked threw her silky hair. Alex's eyes snapped over to Lola from his position slumped agents the wall with blood trailing down his forehead and more blood coming from his arm that he cradled to his chest.
"L-Lola?"
Alex managed to stutter out threw his shock. Lola nodded her head then looked over at the glaring spirit girl who held a large knife in her pale hands.
"Don't try and stop me I will kill this fool and you can't do anything about it"
Lola lifted her hand to silence the spirit, then smirked at her.
"No demon could ever be beaten by a spirit not even the weakest demon alive"
She said calmly but with a cold tone that send shivers down Alex's spine.
"Demon?... What are you talking about Lola?"
Alex stuttered in fear and confusion.
"Master"
This was the first time Lola had acknowledged Alex as her master, yet he didn't seem to like the title for he flinched when she called him that.
"Please don't be frightened"
She whispered in a voice so soft he almost didn't hear her. He nodded slowly then looked towards the spirit. The spirit hissed threw her sharpened teeth at Lola and clenched the knife harder.
"You old hag how dear you interrupt me"
Lola sighed and started walking towards the spirit with narrowed and cold eyes that seemed to freeze the air around her.
"For your crimes i now judge you guilty and send you to the underworld where you will spent the rest of eternity suffering for your sins"
With her piercing glare lola stared at the spirit with clear hatred burning in her purple eyes.
"May you die a cold, miserable second death, you vial spirit."
