CHAPTER 1

I didn't want to leave my home, I genuinely didn't. But I needed to know what was happening in the human world. They stopped visiting me centuries ago so I don't know why I'm so curious and worried now. I honestly care very little about the mortals and what happens to them, all they do is bow to me and give me gifts. But is it too much to ask to see the world they're living in?

My sister returned from her adventures yesterday and said she didn't mind me leaving to explore another world. My dear friend (BF/n) wanted to come with me but I didn't want to risk anything so I ordered her to stay.

I was at the top of the highest mountain I know and breathed in the wind that was blowing through my human hair. I decided to not go to the human world in my dragon form since I know that they don't see dragons very often so I thought I'd blend in more in my human form. I stretched out my arm and made my fingers do specific movements. Suddenly a cloud of green smoke appeared. The smoke was so thick I couldn't see through it. 'Hopefully this portal will work'.

I walked back a few meters and took a deep breath, staring at the puff of fog. 'I'm begging you to work'. I ran straight towards the portal and leaped off the edge of the mountain, feeling air replace the green grass beneath my feet. When I got closer to the portal I shut my eyes closed as I entered the smoke. For a few minutes all I could hear was violent popping noises but I still kept my eyes shut. I remember my father used to tell me that if you opened your eyes when you're going through a portal, they'd explode from the sudden air pressure in the portal. I don't know if it's true or not since he could've just been teasing me but I don't want to test my chances. I felt so nauseous and it felt a stone was pressing against my chest and upper back as I held my breath.

The sickness I was feeling went away when I was thrown to the ground. I used my hands to feel the surface and I quickly recognized it as grass but a little less fresh. I thought it was safe to open my eyes so I slowly revealed my eyes and the first thing I saw was the dark green grass. I lifted my head higher to see the human world. I was already super overwhelmed by how many things I was unfamiliar with. I couldn't even describe what I was seeing because I had no clue to what it was. But I did recognize a couple trees and of course the blue sky, but the air felt not so clean compared to the air in the dragon world. I finally stood up as my eyes widened at this new world around me.

'I don't think I'm in the dragon world anymore.'

Hitoshi Shinsou POV

I was reading a book on a bench in the park since it was a beautiful day out. I was surprisingly having a pretty good week and I knew nothing could ruin my mood at the moment.

THUD

I whipped my body around to face the back of the bench and in the middle of the field I saw a female stand up and look around looking completely lost. Her face looked like someone at Disney World for the first time. Her clothing was... well strange and she literally came out of nowhere. I was contemplating if I should go over there and help her somehow but I didn't feel like getting up. But it would be the right thing to do.

I sighed. 'Why do I want to save humanity when I don't even like humanity myself?' I closed my book and stuffed it in my bag, swinging my bag over my shoulder in the process, and made my way over to the girl who looked around my age, maybe a little older, with my sweatshirt under my arm. I didn't want to just leave my stuff on the bench because I always worry that someone might steal my useless crap and empty wallet.
