Draco was starting to get annoyed. Harry Potter was one of his best friends, but for the life of him, he could not abide by this. If Harry muttered the word "Gregorovitch" one more time in the middle of the night, Draco was seriously considering smothering the wizard with his pillow. Draco needed his sleep. Mrs. Weasley was making them work hard every single day in preparation for the wedding. He needed sleep if he was going to survive.
With the wedding hanging over them and the numerous guests that would appear, Draco, Harry, and Ron were forced to share Ron's room. Ron snored loudly, a trait that Draco had come to accept about his friend in the six years they had shared a room. Still, it still woke Draco up and with Harry's constant chattering in his sleep, Draco was starting to have enough of it.
The wedding was the next day, which meant that he, Harry, Ron, and Hermione would be leaving afterwards to complete the mission Dumbledore gave to Harry, they would start looking for the other Horcruxes.
And in order to have the strength to complete this mission, Draco was going to need his sleep, something he was certain he would not have once they left the Burrow.
It was strange to think that he would not be returning to Hogwarts at the beginning of September, as he had always done before. Hogwarts changed his life, it was one of the best places in the world. But if ever returned to that place, he would be labeled a blood traitor and probably sent to the Dark Lord. He could not go back, just as Hermione and Harry could not.
Still, he felt slightly wistful as he recalled the many adventures he and his friends had during their time at Hogwarts.
It was strange to consider that he should have been in Slytherin. He should have followed his family into the dungeons of Hogwarts, entering the green Common Room under the lake like so many Malfoys had done before him. But he because he was not, his entire life was changed.
He glanced around the room. What would his life have been like it he was put in Slytherin? Would he, Ron, Hemrione, and Harry find the strong, unending friendship they had now? Or, would Draco fall into the animosity and antagonism that formed on the train ride that first day?
He was glad that he was a Gryffindor, even if that led him to hearing Potter's obnoxious muttering in his sleep. He would take this moment of disrupted sleep a hundred times over the adventures he might have had in Slytherin.
And really, if he was not in Gryffindor, he would have never gone after Hermione their first year when Quirrell let a troll loose in the school. He would not have the bravery necessary for a feat like that, and he certainly would not have cared for Hermione enough to go after her like that.
He followed this line of thinking to its natural conclusion.
No. He would not have been friends with Hermione, Harry, and Ron if he were in Slytherin.
All their adventures flooded back to him now in glorious gratefulness. He recalled the numerous times he sat with his friends in the Common Room of Gryffindor, doing their homework or playing games, the days that seemed insignificant at the time, but now held priceless value.
He remembered mocking Lockhart their second year. He really was a ridiculous teacher, who did not know what he was talking about. The only great thing he did at the school was give Hogwarts an unparalleled Valentine's Day. A smile appeared on Draco's features as he recalled the poems and love letters sent to the professors that day. Best thirty galleon he had ever spent.
And could he ever miss out on the third year adventures, when Hermione was lugging around her book bag that clear weighed a ton. She was so set on doing well in all of her classes, she was given a Time Turner to get through the year. And without that Time Turner, they would have never been able to save Sirius Black.
