To me, He’s like no other

He’s a Magnificent Wonder

One afternoon, Amanda came running to me sacredly crying, just like she did when I scared her way too much back when we were becoming just as intimate as we were. “Kyle!” cried she. “Kyle scared me with a vampire bat!” “What?” asked I. “She scared you... with a vampire bat!?” The next thing I knew is that I saw Kyle coming towards us. “Don’t be scared,” he said. “I promise you, this will not hurt you.”

“But it sucks blood!” Amanda terrified replied. “Leene, do something about him.”

I said, “Kyle, why did you terrify her like that!? You know she’s that much terrified about bats!”

“Sorry, Leene! Sorry, Amanda! I don’t mean to scare you like that. Please for-“

“Get away from me, you vampire! I dislike bats! They’re scary!” Amanda kept on saying while hiding on my back.

Amanda was snubbing Kyle for days, and I saw Kyle being regretful about that. I see nothing but regret and sorrow from his face, but I couldn’t do anything at that time. I feared that if I tried to bring that issue to Amanda and persuaded her to forgive Kyle, she might be angry at me as well, and feel that that I did not understand her feelings. I thought of so many things to make them up, but later on abandoned those due to the dangers those ideas impose on our friendship with each other. My hope for a friendship make-up between Amanda and Kyle was forlorn. My wits cannot forge a formidable idea to do such a thing—to persuade Amanda into forgiving Kyle. I asked puzzled Tristan to come to our house and help me devise a plan to repair the broken friendship of the two people. He came to our house quickly using his car (I never thought he had one until that night) and we talked about the situation.

“What could be the reason why Amanda reacted that seriously to Kyle’s prank?” I asked.

“I don’t know. Maybe it was her first time to fear that much,” he replied wondering.

“What could be the reason? I played pranks on her before, some of which are worse, but she didn’t ever do that before.”

“Maybe she had an expectation on Kyle. You know, he’s manly for a geek-type genius, such a gentleman that women like her attitude, such a kind man even to men, and easy to get along well. I think she was disappointed about Kyle. As for me, if I look at someone with a high regard, and that person did the opposite of my impression about him or her, I would really be disappointed. What do you say?”

“Brilliant! But I am thinking: If it’s all about Amanda’s broken respect, why did she look up that much on Kyle? What’s the reason behind? Is he her crush? But, Kyle’s not a tennis player.”

“No, he’s not, but he plays tennis as a hobby. He often does. Come to think of it. Amanda is not that shallow to admire someone for just a reason as that, as far as we know. Maybe there is something more behind this. Phew, I can’t believe that we’re going to trace the past just to solve an incident like this! Phew, this is lunatic, a paranoia! I feel I ain’t gonna take anything from this anymore.”
