*Disclaimer: I don't own Criminal Minds but I will be owning most of the plot because I'm not going by the shows much... I decided to make up my own stuff (remember to read about Nalani)*

Chapter 1

-Nalani's Pov

"Yep! I got it... I'll get back to you sometime in the morning- yes, I'll lock up... Can't promise- ok bye." Sighing I set down the phone. It was finally past eight, which means I should get some time to work... Once it hits eight o'clock, I don't expect living people to walk through my lab doors, which maybe I should just start locking them....

I pulled off my plastic gloves, dispensing them into the garbage. We had just dealt with a case in which each victim was shot with precise aim right to the heart. At least they didn't seem to suffer much, I guess that's a blessing in disguise if you're going to get killed- except maybe that's not even a good thing....

"Well George, tomorrow you're being put into the ground... I'd come- but I- have a lot of paperwork, ya. And it's kinda more of a family affair." I began to take care of putting the body away, "Rest in peace... Okay?" I barely whispered the last part. Sometimes this job can really press down onto your shoulders. It shows you another side of life, one that no one expects to have- just sitting here on basically a big metal plate.

Being 26 years old, a lot of people wonder why I'm in this field, especially when I was younger... But I never know how to reply. I just feel like I'm doing something good, in a way.... I was born and raised in Hawaii, and came to NYC for college. Ever since, I've been here. People always told me that I had the potential to do more, and why just sit around a lab when I can go finish my degree in engineering? But I know this is the field I wanna be in. I remember when I was younger, my dad was a police officer and I became really infatuated with the work. Not only that, but I got very sick when I was 14 so I soon wanted to know now the human body worked... So I'm guessing that's what lead me here, working with dead bodies. My dad thinks I'm crazy, but I know my twin brother could care less. My mom isn't in the picture, so she doesn't need to know my life. I really don't have any friends outside of work, mainly because I'm always secluding myself and I put my job at a higher priority than others and even my own self. That's why my co-worker Connor is always teasing me saying that's why I can't get a boyfriend. But who has time for that?! I meet enough boys... Even if they aren't alive.

Making sure everything was semi neat, I knew it was time for paperwork. This is the one part of the job I don't like. Might as well get started...

"Oi Nali, get up." I felt myself being shook.

"No...."

"You know you're in the lab right?"

"Yes Connor..."

"You need to quit falling asleep here. I think you're taking the saying 'living at work' too seriously."

"I don't care- so much work." I grumbled.

"Come on. At least let me treat you to coffee."

"Mm coffee's great," I sat up, stretching out, "sure lets go."

"Knew that would get you up," he winked, "how about you brush your hair and ya...."

"Okay give me a few minutes."

"Aye aye sir." He mocked walking out of my lab.

"Get out and stay out." I muttered, still half asleep, as I made my way into the bathroom connected to the lab. I eventually got smart and left everyday items in there that I'd need. Let's just say I spend too much time here.
After brushing my hair, teeth and other necessities getting done, I made my way out into the hall to meet up with Connor. Connor's been my closest friend here. He immediately welcomed me and helped me to come out of my shell a bit.
