In like other languages, we always say what time of the day it is.
Zǎoshang
早上 (means morning)
Xiàwǔ
下午 (means afternoon)
Wǎnshàng
晚上 (means night)
In a sentence we could say:
Wǒ zǎoshang chī le fàn
我早上吃了饭。(I ate in the morning.)
Wǒ 我 means I/me.
chī le吃了 means ate.
fàn 饭 means rice. But we usually say it to indicate food.
