"got the nile running through my body, look at my natural i'm so exotic."
landon and augustine walked into the gym together looking to alaric. augustine let her eyes wander around the gym to see maya with the cheerleaders, she gladly waved at augustine and she just smiled and waved back before she rushed out the gym by alaric, once the three were in the hallway alaric just looked to them for an explanation. "you know if he's here, so is a monster. so please, right this way." augustine groaned pushing past alaric to walk towards the exit of the school, the boys didn't utter a word as they followed augustine.
once they reached the parking lot they turned the corner to see rafael huddled in a trunk and hope chanting him to sleep with a spell. "the only person that can seem to calm him down is augustine. i've been using magic." hope explained to alaric and he just nodded to hope. augustine sat in the trunk with rafael petting his face to soothe him to sleep. hope smiled sadly to her friend and then turned around to landon.
"what were you two even doing here?" hope questioned walking closer to landon. "looking for answers. and, i guess... you." landon trailed off and hope fought a smile to appear on her face. augustine looked to her left to see josie and a man walking up to them, augustine hopped out the trunk and closed it. hiding rafael from the man.
"dad?"
"josie? what the hell's going on?" alaric pointed towards the man that was dressed weird. the man smiled and spoke japanese to them which caused everyone to furrow their eyebrows. "kon'nichiwa, genkidesuka?" augustine only knew the basics of japanese but she decided to take a friendly approach with the man. everyone turned to augustine as the man responded and how she just nodded her head with a smile. how the hell did she know japanese?
"he said 'we came to protect the bonsai-headed boy.' i think." josie explained to everyone and they all just looked to landon, josie noticed hope's glance and leaned towards the man asking a question causing augustine to step forward. "watch it, saltzman." augustine warned and hope pulled her back. josie rolled her eyes looking to both of the girls.
"japanese for 'what the hell is she doing here?'" josie explained looking to hope. "just because she's supernatural doesn't mean we can trust her, or the traitor. i mean they shouldn't be here." josie explained to everyone and augustine just scoffed looking between everyone making hope hold her tighter, warning her not to say anything.
"look, i will take all the help i can get. even from him. so ask him to tell us everything we should know." alaric pointed over to the man that now sat on the curb in boredom. josie looked over to the man. "kurutta-san." she invited him to join the group. the man smiled putting up his blade and walked over to josie, speaking so she could translate. "dropped on his head as a baby. samurai school to learn discipline. he learned how to slay oni- demons, which is what we're chasing. he was a hero. all the women begged him to..." josie translated until she couldn't, although she looked at his hand gestures. she yelled for him to stop, considering the age group. augustine laughed understanding what he was saying.
