(Modern Au!)'Yours truly,
Secret Admirer'
That was the third letter this week. Written in fine sharp ink, the blotches of black fine lines swerve and circle into words of flattery. They held quite interesting poems and info that Naib was certainly interested about. It had fueled his desire to find this admirer that he had, and most certainly want to answer their question to curt him.
Driven to find his culprit, Naib set out to the usual cafe he went to, scarf wrapped around his neck and ombre coat draped over his body. Phone and letters in hand, he walked his way to his spot of the small, but lovely warm coffee house. The scent of coffee beans and warm aroma of freshly baked cookies entered his nose, a blissful trail of hunger followed his figure like a ghost.
Eyes roaming over a familiar seat and a familiar figure, the brunette made his way towards an open area. Not so crowded, yet not so empty either, he found himself sitting beside the Prospector.
"So, found who that mysterious letter person is?" Norton rested his hand on his chin, dark chocolate irises staring back at blue ocean hues. He lifted the coffee cup, lips meeting warm brown liquid. But the warmth from his lips desired to touch another, a silent longing for affection. But as he held back, his cheeks flushed into red, powdered in embarrassing thoughts and swirling moments he wished to have.
Sighing, Naib could only look at the table with three open letters. Every single fold was with delicate care, the writing and curves it held gave no single hint of rough handling. "No, I don't. Who knows who could that be, not much people knows about my brownie addiction. I doubt some creeper would stalk me- hopefully."
Norton chuckled, voice hoarse and deep. He couldn't figure out how clueless the man in front of him could be. Who else would know about his addiction to brownies? It was pretty obvious that there was only a few people who truly was able to see Naib's personal life. Considering that he had a few options, wasn't it already clear?
"Let's slow down a moment. First, who do you think the person is?" he asked, eyes still piercing through beautiful blue hues. To say that he wasn't nervous was an absolute lie. Under his cap was a waterfall of sweat and doubts. He wasn't sure if his feelings were going to be reciprocated with the Mercenary, fingers slightly twitching. The coffee settled between his grip was slowly cooling, and as Norton reminded himself about the cheesy love letters, he waited for an answer.
"Not sure. I mean, there was only like four people who knew about my- um- brownie addict," Naib's cheeks fumed in red as the embarrassing image of him being caught in boxes of nice fresh brown deserts littered the living room. He was still not over that day, a little piece of his pride slowly withered as his dear friends saw the rare moment this serious and intimidating Mercenary drowned himself with brownies.
"It was Eli, Aesop, you, and William. I highly doubt it's Aesop. He's dating Joseph and I'm pretty sure cheesy letters aren't his thing. Now, as much as William is a nice guy, he's too focused on playing his football to understand what the word 'love letter' is," Naib began to mumble, as if his brain was programmed to forget the most important detail. There was one person left who had been left out, and that of course is poor Norton.
It gave Norton false hope, his usual warm smile draping into a slight curve of a frown. Had his feelings not met the gaze of his dear friend? Or is he really just a friend? A stomach full of coffee began to be full of soulless butterflies, dancing as their sharp wings slice through his abdomen. As much as that was clearly how he imagined it would be, nervousness just aroused stomach pain.
Naib caught onto the look of uneasiness his friend made, standing up to better look at Norton's expression of constipation. "Hey, you okay? I think you drank a little bit too much coffee," his eyebrows furrowed. "I think we should go to my place, it's closer and I doubt you'll make it to your own bathroom before puking everywhere."
Refusing to not accept, Norton hastily ran out the cafe, looks of strangers alike threw him the expression of confusion. Naib following behind, he sighed as the taller male ran as if his life counted on it...
♡
The sounds of puking could be heard around the whole complex, followed by a heavy flush of a crying toilet. But even if the unusual sounds of- something began to slice the silence, the brunette could only watch the letter settled on the counter of his home. Like all the previous sent letters, it was nicely folded in a plain envelope, red stamp of hearts neatly holding it shut.
It seemed his secret admirer was closer than he thought. The thought of them so close made Naib shiver, face heating to the fact that even if the words written onto the paper were cheesy and too heartwarming, it truly was cute to know that someone else had eyes on you.
His heart began to warm, like a overheating heater that refused to shut down in the middle of summer. Surely, he isn't too oblivious.
Hands reaching out to unfold the thin paper between his fingers, Naib was sure that he was unable to hide the pink rosy cheeks of his when he began to read.
"Perhaps, this may be the last letter I shall write to you, but, my feelings won't be the last time I shall give to you.
My dear Naib, when do you ever stop making me feel this way? How whenever you're around, my chest becomes warm, and the scars that painted my body began to clear into a blizzard of shyness.
Why do you make me feel so special?
If you could turn around I just want you to know-"
"-how much I love you so. Please, reciprocate my feelings," Norton felt his body freeze as his voice echoed throughout the room. This was his last chance to make an impression, and he was going to do everything to make it perfect.
Naib felt his fingers twitch as the words he was reading was suddenly voice outloud. The hairs from the back of his neck stood in suspense as his body refused to move.
Finally turning, the puzzle pieces finally were put together. All those times of wondering and complaining about not knowing who the secret admirer was, was finally revealed in a short but sweet sentence.
Oh how embarrassing must it been to look frustrated at the letters when the writer was just a few feet away.
"Norton....? Y-You were the secret a-admirer?" Naib stuttered, face flustered in pink. To say that a smile stretched from his lips disappeared was absolutely wrong. He was satisfied, knowing that the person who had liked him, was the same man he also had feelings for.
"I-I umm- yes! Sorry about the letters and all! I know I should've just told you about my feelings, but I was scared to say-" Norton felt his whole body envelop in a warm embrace, the delicate fragrance of cinnamon filled his nose. He had longed for a feeling like this, his face drowning in hues of red and pink. His heart was understandably shaking in happiness, body responding with a hug back.
"I love you too!" Naib pushed himself to say it, his out of character suddenly surprising the Prospector. "But seriously, I can't believe you made me wait for so long!" He whined, finding himself leaning onto his new lover. Embarrassed and slightly wanting to keep being in the embrace, he looked up with a lovely gaze.
Norton only chuckled, leaning closer as the scene only blurred in a fairy tale like atmosphere. For once, he didn't regret his letters, because with every curve of his hand only gave a stronger feeling each time. And with a final kiss to seal a longing touch, he whispered.
"Thank you for accepting my feelings, yours truly, your lover."
A/N: I know, I'm a bit slow in updating ;w; but I promise I'll put in more detail in my works in return!
