A/N: I'm not hating on Vera, I play her a lot but it's easy for her to act as a villain in this story ;w;

Where there is darkness, there is light. Like a decrepit book, the past was a rather old tale. From stories of war, love, and freedom, the wonders of humans never ceased to stop. It somehow made sense in the end, as these intelligent creatures continue to expand their imaginations, did they also continue to be frightened to things of the unknown. The unknown could most certainly be anything that hasn't been understood as of yet, with individuals finding the truth in their own separate ways. But to you, the thing that has started to haunt your dreams, clouded your mind like ink, and continued to pump into your veins....was but the feeling of love.

The feeling itself felt unusual, this tender but wonderful sensation that somehow made it past your line of emotional defense has also broke down a large barrier. Past your professional facade, this..love feeling only seemed to weaken your fragile heart into jelly. Limbs succumbed into a soft and all so twitchy situation, has left your mind scrambling whatever thoughts was left. A once completed puzzle, was now shaken and rambled with pieces taken away by this horrific emotion. But who could you blame than the man who has stolen your heart and took away your attention?

Lord Desaulniers.

A man with pride, intellect, and skills has nonetheless swept you off of balance. From day one, this complex feelings towards him felt nothing more than a forbidden curse- like a scandalous emotion. Perhaps because it was. You were but a maid, and he was of nobility, something that fueled gossips throughout the years. From different servants falling in love with a high noble, to a peasant who would never have changed his fate without a single kiss from his Lord's daughter- how scandalous can it be?

It became a pattern, as you observed, but you also became but a victim to this horrendous situation. It had been your turn to feel this wonderful but horrible feeling.

The emptiness of the servants' chambers had only aroused the cold morning air. As if it was the beginning of winter, the chills of spring has sprung from your toes to your head. Goosebumps forming, it wasn't unusual to experience this within the early hour of five. Preparing for your Lady's morning was not an easy thing, with tending every detail until she was polished as a doll. Preparing her breakfast, assisting on her changing, and of course finish the touches such as fixing her hair had been a test that never ended. One wrong move would've been a smack, and a warning turned into being expelled from the Manor itself. Cruel isn't it? Thus, this professional facade you often wore had grew everyday into the very "perfect" maid she had wanted you to be.

But perfection often displayed more flaws than none.

"Lady Vera has a very important meeting with one of the sons of the Desaulniers. I do hope you make her all the more presentable, it would be a shame if her future husband sees her not fit into the flower she is," Mrs. Nair had often reminded you of this, and it almost pained your chest everytime. Like a thorn piercing through flesh, it stung deep within the core. But you bit back a tiresome sorrow, brushing past the older woman and into the chambers of the said Maiden.

You had carried the tray of egg, sausages, and a soft loaf of bread- a kind of breakfast the brunette you were forced to call "M'lady" or "Princess" everyday serve...although only some knew of your previous higher status. Like fragile glass, she was easy to wake, and also easy to anger. Temper unmatched with her delicate features, this woman would have been the death of you if it hadn't been the fact that there really no other choice. You were but a servant, and she was your owner. Like a slave, it didn't matter if you did manage to get on her good side, because you would be easily be replaced as well.
