Steve's POV

"Melody, Doll, this is the fifth letter we've gotten today about us. We have to hold an Alpha meeting," I pleaded with her.

"I know we do. I just don't know what we're going to say. How do we explain that I've had every secondary gender and that yours changed with the serum? That sounds made up and like an excuse to me," She said and she was right. It did sound made up and like an excuse. But it was the truth. It was our truth.

"I know, I know. You're right. But we have to find some way to appease them. They won't stop hounding us until we do."

"I know. I know that. I know you're right. I just... Steve, I'm terrified they'll find some way to separate us," She said, the fear in her eyes eminent.

"I don't care what they say. You and I will be bonded this October. There is nothing they can say or do to take you away from me; I promise," I said, holding her as tight as I could.

"We'll send the letters out tonight," She said after a minute.

"Ok, baby. Whatever you want."

Melody's POV

"What is this I've heard about two Alphas being Mates?" Lorenzo, the Alpha of the Italian Pack, asked.

"You've summed it up yourself. Steve and I are both Alphas and we are Mates. There is nothing to discuss, yet you all insisted we discuss it," I said, holding my ground. No one was coming into my territory and telling me who I could be bonded with.

"This is unnatural. Two Alpha's being Mates," Elena said, her own Mate, shifting closer to her. I glared at the Spaniard.

"That may be so, but neither Melody nor I presented as an Alpha when we presented. I presented as a Beta and she presented as an Omega when she was a pup. I became an Alpha because of the serum that was tested on me and she kept evolving until she became an Alpha. Nothing about our situation is natural," Steve answered.

"We can't allow this," Hudson said, his Australian accent heavily annoying me.

"I don't think we have a choice," Layla said, eyeing me warily. At least the Canadain had some sense.

"I'm done discussing this. Who the fuck are you to tell my daughter who her pre-destined Mate can or cannot be? Who the fuck gave you the right?" Dad snarled, the rest of my pack joining in. Things slowly began to unravel as both mine and Steve's packs, no our pack, defended us. All of them were ours. Which meant it was up to us to rein them in.

"Enough!" I said, gaining the attention of everyone in the room, my Alpha power pouring out of me.

"I do not give a flying fuck what any of you think. You are allowed to freely love your Mates, as am I. Just because our situation is different than yours, does not give you the right to dictate our lives. You do not own us. We do not bow to you. So unless you want to challenge either Steve or I, I suggest you get the fuck out. And should this ever become an issue again, I will personally destroy your entire pack. Do. I. Make. Myself. Clear?" I growled, allowing my wolf form to overtake me. I was so done letting everyone decided whether I was allowed to love my Mate or not. Gasps erupted in the room, and I knew why.

There was an old fairy tale, that an Alpha with pure white fur would be a descendant of the Great Moon Goddess, Artemis. And my fur just so happened to be whiter than snow.

"We won't pursue this non-issue anymore, Ms. Lupine. Please, forgive us," Lorenzo said, his voice shaking. I guess the French bastards who had let my secret slip had forgotten to mention my fur color.

I watched as every wolf in the room bared his or her neck to me as a sign of respect. Everyone now knew that even if it was seen as controversial, I was not to be challenged. I was top dog, no matter who else was in the room. I shifted back and glared at those who dared to call what Steve and I had wrong.

"See that you don't," I growled, flashing my eyes at them. They all left quickly, while also trying not to seem like cowards. They were still the highest-ranking Alphas in their home country. They had to seem somewhat strong and in control.

"Steve, your Mate's a badass," Bucky said and I smiled.

"I know."

Melody's POV

"Well, that was something else," Steve began, climbing in bed next to me. "How you handled the Alphas."

"I don't like being told who to love. Especially not by people I've met maybe once or twice," I replied and he chuckled.

"Well, it was still sexy," Steve said, pulling me against his warm body. God, he was always so hot, both in temperature and appearance.

"Well, I'm glad you enjoyed the show. Just remember, I can be like that if you piss me off, too," I warned and he laughed.

"Consider me warned, Doll. I have been very warned."

"Good. I'd hate to have to get rid of you. I mean, I did just terrify some of the most respected Alphas to exist for you. I'd hate to have to waste such energy," I sighed.

"Yes, that would be such a shame, wouldn't it? Well, it's a very good thing I plan on spoiling you rotten, isn't it?"

"Steve, you don't have to do that," I said, turning over to face him.

"I know I don't. But I have been looking for you since the 1940s. And now that I have you, I'm going to make sure you have the best life any woman has ever had. I promise," He said, kissing the crook of my neck. And he made good on that promise. At least for that night.
