"What?!"
She was certain Sven was going to choke on his drink but somehow he managed to stop himself from letting that happen. A knowing grin follows, and she already regrets her decision of filling him in. "See?! If this isn't a sign, then I don't know what is!"
"Knock it off."
She had told Sven about what happened during their first class. She was asked by their professor to help Isaac by showing him around the campus. She desperately wanted to decline. Isaac probably didn't need her help, he's a genius, isn't he? Surely, a walk around the campus is trivial for him.
No, she thinks. She's doing it because the professor expects her to. The professor acknowledges her, and she doesn't want to disappoint.
"On the bright side, he's good looking."
She rolls her eyes at the shallow comment. "I'm failing to see how that is relevant."
"Why are you so against it, anyway?"
"He's a drama magnet," she stated. "I bet he already has a fan club, and the last thing I want is for my name to be involved around that guy."
"For someone who hates drama, you sure are a drama queen." Sven stifles a yawn. "If you think such things are ridiculous, then you should hear how you sound right now."
She rolls her eyes again. "You don't get it."
"When do you plan on asking him out-- I mean, showing him around?"
"Fuck off," she tells Sven and he does the opposite. "Anyway, I'll do it later. If he doesn't accept it, then that's the end of it."
"And what if he tells the professor you didn't show him around, huh?" Sven challenges. Before she could retort anything to that, Sven pointed towards the cafeteria's entrance. "Speak of the devil."
By the entrance stands Isaac looking ever so uncomfortable. He tries keeping his head down as he walked towards the counter.
Now that she's looking at him, she felt somewhat sorry for Isaac. She couldn't imagine how uncomfortable he must be.
Isaac doesn't even dare to spend his lunch inside the cafeteria. As soon as he paid for his food, he hurriedly left. The cafeteria was filled with silence for a mere second until the whispers gradually grew louder and was soon back into the previous state before a certain someone stole their attention.

As soon as the classes were finished, she packed her belongings and glanced at Isaac. Like always, he seemed to be in a hurry. He was already at the door until she slowly lost sight of his red hair.
She curses under her breath as she started to run out of the classroom in search of the red haired new student who seemed to have stolen dozens of hearts in a span of nearly 24 hours. Much to her luck, he was already nowhere in sight.
She had already reached the end of the hallway when she realized she probably won't be catching sight of him anytime soon. She decides to head to the restroom instead, just to make sure she still looks decent after all that goose chase.
"U-um, I-I can't do that. Let me go, if you--"
"Why? Are you by any chance not into girls?"
"That's not it. I'm just--"
"Then what's the problem? The boys won't let an opportunity such as this pass."
Her eyes dart under one of the stalls. There were two people inside...?
The voices were hushed but distinct enough for her to know that it was a girl and a boy. What she instantly regrets however, is the fact that she knows just who the other voice belonged to.
"This has nothing to do with me," she tells herself. She knows better than to get involved.
As soon as she left the restroom, she hears Isaac's voice - it was a bit louder now, and he was still trying to refuse nicely.
She scratches her head as she went back inside, knocking at the occupied stall.
"Isaac, are you in there?"
There was silence before the door opened. She is met by the sight of a female student who was glaring down at her. "Who might you be?"
"A friend of his," she answers without as much thinking. "Could you kindly let him go? He obviously isn't interested."
"And you think you pique his interest?" The student stifles a laugh, sending her another eyeroll count.
"I didn't say that. As I've said, I'm a friend. I came to pick him up, he disappeared from sight earlier. You probably had something to do with that, huh?"
The student frowns. "What are you implying? He wants this as much as I do, isn't that right?" She looks at Isaac, who looked the opposite of what the student claimed.
"Look, I don't care nor do I have the time for this. Have your rendezvous somewhere else, preferably outside the school premises." She doesn't waste another second. Before she knew it, she had grabbed Isaac's wrist and pulled him out of the restroom. Her own actions surprising herself.
When she was certain the student won't catch up to them anytime soon, she lets go of his wrist and turns to face Isaac whose eyes were glued to the ground.
"Apologies for interrupting your rendezvous back there but unfortunately, I was asked to show you around the university. I only have free time today, take it or leave it."
"R-right," he clears his throat. "...Thank you."
For unknown reasons, she felt a lump swell down her throat. The way Isaac responded... he probably thinks that she'd rather be doing anything but to babysit the new student, which isn't entirely false, but she didn't have to make it so obvious.
Out of guilt she asks. "It's fine. Are you alright?"
Isaac nods.
"You should learn how to say no."
Isaac's eyes widen at the blunt utterance.
"...r-right," Isaac stutters. "I'll try."
It might not seem like it, but she desperately wanted to shoot herself. That wasn't any of her business, she knows that, and yet...
"If you don't mind, can we start? I don't want to take any more of your time."
...There it goes.
"...Alright." She says. As soon as Isaac turned away, she inhaled a sharp breath.
