Life in the Pridelands: The Tree of Life

Chapter 8

Kion woke up Startled. He squinted at the sun. It was morning. He walked outside. The peacefulness made him forget about everything that happened the day before. He felt more confident and he was relieved that he got a lot of things off his chest. He looked at the direction Fuli's cave was in. He wanted to go see If she was ok but... Her dad...he thought. Plus she's probably still sleeping. Then he heard a whoosh! HE looked up and smiled.

Anga: Hi Kion.

Kion: Hey Anga.

Anga: Um, I have news. 

Kion: Let's hear it.

Anga: Makutcha and his team are here

Kion: What! Anga, get the rest of the Lion-

He stopped himself remembering that they were not the lion guard. They were the night pride.

Kion: Um, the Pride.

Bunga came running up.

Bunga: I'm actually HERE!

Kion: Then everyone else, we'll be here.

Anga nodded and flew off.

Bunga was looking at Kion. Kion pretended that he didn't notice, but he gave up.

Kion: Yes Bunga?

Bunga: Is it true?! You and Fuli are together?

Kion: Y-Yeah

Bunga: ...COOL!

Kion: Yeah, Yeah, yeah, BUNGA calm down. Please?

Bung: Yeah, you and Fuli are gonna have so much fun together...

Bunga closed his mouth because Kion was glaring at him.

Bungs: SOOOOOOooooooo...

Fuli: Kion! We're here!

Kion smiled and ran to hug Fuli. She hugged back but when they noticed everyone was looking at them, they backed away from each other.

Fuli: Yeah-Soo, what are we facing today?

Kion: Anga,

Anga: Makutcha and he made a team of everyone fought.  

Ono: Oh...

Kion: Let's go!

They started to run but Kion stopped Fuli.

Kion: Promise me you'll stay safe.

Fuli looked at Kion.

Fuli: Kion, I can't promise that! I'm in the pride. 

Kion: It doesn't matter, you HAVE to stay safe!

Fuli: KION! You choose me to fight and that means we will ALL be in danger! We could all die, including me! You can't just tell me to watch the fight and watch our other friends die! Kion, you choose me to be the fastest. And I will stay with you until the end.

Kion knew Fuli was right. He looked down. But Fuli hugged him.

Fuli: Don't worry, now let's go.

Kion looked up and nodded and they ran and caught up with the rest of the pride. Then they stopped to see that Makutcha and his team were standing in front of them.

Makutcha: Well, if it isn't Kion and his pests.

Kion: Makutcha, leave NOW

Bunga: Yeah or we'll kick you guy's a-

Kion: BUNGA, please...

Bunga: Yeah, ok

Makutcha: Yeah right!

Makutcha started forward and attacked. His team followed. The pride was fighting once more. Kion would look at Fuli to see if she was ok. And she was, but he wanted to make sure.

Kion: Makutcha! Why are you here? What do you want?!

Makutcha: I want to be the king! And destroy this place.

Kion fought back hard, getting angry and thinking that he won't let Makutcha have the tree of life. He had already scratched Makutcha but Makutcha's blood wasn't the only one dripping, Kion's blood was too. It was painful when Makutcha scratched Kion on the same wound.  But Kion still fought. Kion knew now what real fighting was. Kion remembered who he was fighting for. He wanted to save her. And that's by not letting Makutcha be King. He kept fighting until but Makutcha's shoulder. Makutcha roared with pain. Makutcha backed up trying to heal the pain from his shoulder. Kion pounced on Makutch and jabbed his claw into Makutcha's chest. Makutcha slowed his movement down. His eyes shut slowly but he tried to open them. But there was no use. Kion killed Makutcha. Everyone stopped. Even Makutcha's team. Everyone looked at Kion. Makutcha's team shrieked and ran away. Kion looked at Fuli with a tired smile. Then he saw nothing but darkness.

Kion woke up and saw that Fuli was standing next to him speaking with her friend. He moved just to let her know he was alright.

Fuli: Kion?

Kion: Yeah,

Fuli: Kion, are you alright?

Kion: Yeah, I feel-I feel great!

Fuli sighed hard.

Fuli: Oh good.

Kion stood up but felt his aking paws. But he didn't say anything to Fuli. He didn't want her to say "Kion, sit back down" or "Kion, if you feel pain, you MUST continue to rest." He followed Fuli out of the tree. He took a deep breath. He loved the air. He looked around and spotted Anga and Ono.

Ono: Hey Kion, how are you doing?

Kion: Great Ono.

Anga: Good, now there is a lion that needs help. He's right outside of the pathway.

Kion: Ok, I'll go meet him.

Fuli: I'll come too.

So Kion, Fuli, Anga, and Ono went to the pathway. They looked around then saw a lion about Kion's age struggling to walk. He looked up and smiled to see Kion with everyone else.

???: Oh, good. A little help, please!

Kion and Fuli looked at each other. Then Kion got the lion and put him on his back. Fuli watched to make sure he didn't fall. Once they got to the tree Kion put the lion down.

???: Few! Thank you, guys!

Fuli: Umm, no problem.

Kion: Tell us, where are you from?

???: Me? Oh, I'm from nowhere, I was traveling. Then I got attacked by mean people! Can you believe it? Then they attacked for no reason, And I tried to make it here.

Kion looked at Fuli but she gave him a face meaning she doesn't know what to do.

Kion: What's your name?

???: My name? Oh, that's easy! And nice of you to ask, it's Kanari.
