"Hey, mom, dad! Look what I can do!" smiling brightly, I held up a smooth ball towards their faces in an instant. My dad, grunting as this object was pushed in his face, pushed the object towards me again. My mom, on the other hand, smiled and ruffled my hair a little. "What is it, sweety?" My mother asked me nicely.

Smiling up towards her, I jogged a few feet in front of them before I turned around and looked at them. "Watch this." Throwing this ball up in the air, I waited for it to come back down a few feet before hitting it with little strength as it rolled a few feet in front of me. Looking back excitedly, I smiled so widely at them, only to see my mom smiling back. My father was deep into reading the daily news instead.

"Wasn't I amazing?" I asked them eagerly. I awaited a response from them, and my dad spoke up first. He brought his head up before talking in an annoyed tone.

"Look, sweety. If you're going to do something, how about something that isn't too boyish like sports." When he said that, my head dropped down and my smile faded away as I knew where this was going. "Wouldn't you rather be playing with dolls or dress up with your friends?" I looked around on the ground, not knowing where to put my gaze as he said all of this.

My mother suddenly spoke up to him about his rudeness, but I just ignored both of them. I knew he was right, but I didn't have any friends to do that stuff with. I didn't know what it was like to have friends. I've never had any since the last time we moved.

I'm only ten years old, but we've moved all around Japan according to my mother's job. The longest I have ever stayed in one place was two years. I had made a couple of close friends, but I left them one day without them knowing. I haven't seen them since.

"Well if you weren't so insistent on being unpersevering then-" at this point, their yelling had been enough to break my gaze from the ground to them. "Hey mom, what does that word mean?" I asked her shyly. Both my parents stopped yelling before looking over at me. My mom and dad both sighed as my mom stepped over and crouched down in front of me.

She smiled sweetly at me before ruffling my hair a bit. I giggled and smiled back at her. "Well, that's a big kid word. Now, why don't you go run off to the park or around the neighborhood while I and your father cook up some dinner." I looked at my father before he turned his head away from me and grunted in disapproval.

Looking back up at my mom I agreed to go spend some time around the neighborhood a little.

I ran inside, grabbed my jacket and put on my watch I had to know the time. Walking back out the door, I was met with only my mom this time. She was on her phone with someone when she paused. She had heard the door shut and she turned around to look at me. "Let me pause you real quick," she said to the person on the phone. She smiled at me and I smiled back at her. "Okay honey, make sure to be back by seven, okay? It's five right now so that gives you two hours. Okay?" I nodded eagerly before walking off the house porch and started my journey down the street.

For the next ten minutes, I just continued to walk wherever my little legs took me. I took twists and turns all around until I stumbled upon a young kitten playing in a patch of flowers. It was white with grey patches around one of the eyes and another patch on its tummy. I looked around to see if anyone was nearby, but I realized I was next to a little playground with no one around it.

Slowly, I started to crouch down so I wouldn't scare it away, Holding out my hand, the young kitten came towards me and put its tiny head in my hand. I smiled softly to myself and pet it until it was comfortable with me. "I think I'll name you poker. Just like a poker face," I said grinning to myself. All I got in return though was a soft mew.

A loud yell broke me out of my trance, and the same with the kitten. The kitten jumped out of my hands and ran away. "Gosh darn it," I muttered to myself. Standing up, I looked around to see multiple young boys around my age yelling at each other.

"If you hadn't been so rough with the ball, he wouldn't have kicked us out of his yard!" There were three of them and two of them seemed to be mad at the other kid. I watched them out of curiosity.

"It's not my fault the old geezer was yelling at me so much! He wouldn't set to me even once because I was 'not ready' whatever that means." one of the kids said. He had a buzzed head and looked like a delinquent to me. He scared me a little, but I thought nothing of it.

"Yeah, that's because you kept hitting the ball out of his yard." At this point, all three of them were yelling back and forth to each other on who was right and who was wrong. I had no idea what had happened, but something they said intrigued me. Volleyball. They kept saying it over and over and I couldn't get my mind off of it.

My thoughts were broken when the buzzed head killed finally yelled one thing before the other two walked off annoyed with him. "Fine! Just leave and be little brats why don't you?" The kid huffed before he kicked one of the playground equipment. "Ow..." he muttered under his breath.

I watched in disbelief in him. 'Whos that stupid to kick something as hard as that?' he slowly rubbed his foot before he sat down on a swing with a stick. He drew random things into the dirt as he grumbled to himself. Looking around in the park, I soon came to be that it was only us two here left. I don't think he noticed me yet though, so I tried to sneak away. That was until I heard the kid speak up.

"Hey, what's a kitten doing here all by itself?" perking up, I looked back and saw Poker in front of the kid. The kid took his stick and started to jab it towards the kitten in amusement. Of course, though, it didn't actually hit it. I immediately got mad and walked over. "Hey, stop that!" I yelled at him.

He jumped up from not noticing me. He looked around until our gazes finally met and I was in front of him. He laughed a little before speaking up towards me. "So what, what are you gonna do?" I picked up the kitten before starting to walk away. Shocked, he frantically stood up. "W-wait! You're not even going to say anything?" he asked confused.

I looked back at him, thinking a little bit. "Why should I? It's not like you know me or anything." He seemed taken back by this statement before scratching his head in thought. He muttered to himself a little bit before he shot up. I jumped from the sudden action a stepped back a little. That only made him walk towards me. He smiled before sticking his hand out to me.

I was hesitant and didn't know whether to take it or not. I looked at his hand before looking back up at him. I did this a couple of times before he sighed. "This is where you shake my hand and introduce yourself to me, idiot." My eyes opened in realization before blushing a little. "U-uh, yeah. Of course.

I took his hand into mine before he clasped his around mine firmly. He grinned at me. I smiled a little before stating my name.

"My name is L/N F/N."

He nodded his head before letting our hands apart. He smiled this time before pointing both his thumbs at himself.

"I'm Ukai Keishin."

Well, I hope this first chapter satisfies you as much as I enjoyed writing it.

I wanted to start this book off with a better explanation of how Ukai and you meet instead of just throwing the book into action, so I came up with this. I also wanted to split this into two parts because I felt that would help ease the book better.

I don't want to keep you to long, so I'll let you keep reading and I'll be on my way. Don't forget to vote this chapter and follow for any updates or teases.
