The whole classroom fell silent as Shouto walked over to his desk, avoiding eye contact with all of his classmates. Momo exchanged a worried glance with Ochako as the other students began their conversations once again.

Todoroki dropped his bag beside his desk and collapsed into his seat, letting out a painful breath. He reached up and touched the cut on his cheek, wincing when it flared up with pain. Aizawa was standing at the front of the room and was watching him with narrow eyes.

A few moments later, Aizawa gazed at the rest of the class, "Everybody, take your seats, the class is starting," after he finished, he cast one last glance at Shouto before turning his attention away from the injured student.

Momo slowly drifted over to her seat. She sat down quietly and watched Shouto for a few moments. He was staring towards the front of the room, looking pretty much normal aside from the cuts and bruises on his face.

"Hey, Shouto," Momo whispered as her peers started to sit down.

Todoroki cast her a sideways glance. He smiled at her slightly, but it didn't reach his eyes and looked forced. "Hi, Yaoyorozu." he murmured.

Momo was about to open her mouth to speak, but Aizawa's voice cut her off too early.

"Today we're going into a real battle," Aizawa called out. Everybody in the class froze and fell silent, pure shock spread over their faces. Six or seven students raised their hands to ask questions.

"Let me explain," Aizawa sighed. "We've been tracking a group of villains across the city for days now. We think they're going to hit right in the center of the city. It's a stupid plan, really, but they're probably planning on causing so much chaos that they can do whatever they please. I'm bringing you guys so you can see what real battle is like. However, I need to trust that you guys will be smart about this. I can't have any of you running headfirst into battle like a bunch of maniacs."

Bakugou let out a growl of annoyance, frowning angrily at his teacher. "What's the point of bringing us? Aren't the Pro Heroes gonna do all the work anyway?"

"The only Pro Heroes that are going to be fighting with you today are Endeavor and me."

Todoroki froze in his seat, his eyes widening. Momo felt a stab of sadness at her heart; the anger in Todoroki's eyes was instantly recognizable.

Momo raised her hand, "When are the villains planning to attack?" she asked curiously.

"We believe that they plan to attack near noon today, so I want to leave in around two hours. That gives you enough time to get ready, and I will give you guys clear instructions about where I want you to be during the fight." Aizawa explained. "Now, I'll let you guys go get your hero costumes on."

Most of the students stood up and headed to change. Momo rose to her feet and started to walk towards the door, but she felt a familiar cold hand grab her wrist.

"Shouto?" she turned to face her classmate, who had an understandably worried expression.

"Yaoyorozu, I'm sorry," Shouto told her. "I sprung all that information on you and expected you to react a certain way, and I thought that-"

"Shouto, stop," Momo told him quietly. Aizawa had already left the classroom, so she took Shouto's hand in her own and smiled gently at him. "It's okay, you have nothing to apologize for, okay?" she took a deep breath and shrugged. "I shouldn't have run away."

Todoroki's dual-colored eyes clouded with sadness. He took a deep breath and squeezed Momo's hand. "When we see my father today, I need you to act like everything's normal, alright?"

Shaking her head, Momo reached up and touched the cut on the side of Todoroki's face. He didn't flinch away from her hand. "But it's not normal, Shouto. Did he do this?" she whispered.

Without saying a word, Shouto nodded.

Momo drew her hand away from Shouto's cheek. "There's still so much I want to tell you, but I can't right now."

Todoroki stood still, nodding. "I understand... Momo."

Momo smiled, the use of her first name making her heart flutter excitedly. "When we get out to the battle, please, stay close to me," she whispered. "I need to know that you're okay."

"I will," Shouto promised.

"Thank you," Momo's voice was soft. "We should go, I don't want to be late." She reluctantly pulled away from Todoroki and began to head towards the locker rooms.

Todoroki stood still for a few more seconds. He stared down at his hands, wishing he was still holding Momo's. Every time he thought of her, his heart beat faster and his face turned into an embarrassing shade of red. Every time he looked at her, he smiled. Every time he talked to her, he felt more happiness than he could ever describe.
