Out of Order

Everything's out of order today,
For I opened the fridge and saw my clay!

The clay was supposed to be in the closet,
And when I opened the closet, I nearly lost it!

For there in the closet was my pet turtle,
Not in the tank where the soil was fertile.

Then I looked in the tank,
Oh, it must have been a prank...

Because I saw my little brother Jacob!
Was this a dream? I had to wake up!

Jacob should have been in his bed,
But there were his picture books instead!

The books went on the shelf,
So I turned around and saw... myself!

It must have been a mirror...
Oh, I wish this day were clearer!

Into the bathroom I went,
But in the sink was thirty-two cents!

Those pennies were supposed to be in my bank,
And there on the spot my heart sank.

For sitting there in the bank was my homework!
Where was that trickster? Where did he lurk?

My homework was made to be in my folder,
But there in my folder was the candle holder!

The dining room table was the place for that.
However, there in the bowl was the welcome mat!

It belonged out on the doorstep,
But on the doorstep was an orange, and I knew where that was kept.

Everything's out of order today,
For I opened the fridge and saw my clay.
