//Aesop's Pov//

Once Naib and Norton left, I turn my attention to the blond in front of me. He was playing with his food like a little child. Is he not hungry? No. It could be because he's uncomfortable eating in front of others. That would explain his strong attachment to Wick. He must not have many contact with other people. Just like me when I was younger.

It's the only reason why I stayed with this male. I'm seeing my younger self in this new-comer. Which is not a good thing. At least not in this Prison. Naib had told me every single detail from when we lost contact till now. The spark in his blue eyes shone brightly as he talked about the residents of the other Manor from before Ivod broke them. It seems that Naib had gotten all of them under his little finger. I was glad that Naib's will power is still strong. But there will always be a limit to everything. Naib had seen his 'family' ripped away from him not once but twice now. Taken away by the exact same 'person'. I'm afraid if he lose this Game of theirs, I would lose him forever.

And I won't let that happened. I lost my best friend once. I won't lose him again.

As much I would love to eliminate the Owner of this Manor, I couldn't. Not wouldn't, but couldn't.

Even if I did kill him, he would always find a way to revive back and I do not want that. No. In order to set my best friend free from that entity's control, I need to destroy him. Completely. No body, no soul, no lingering entity. Any connections to Ivod must be eradicated before attempting to kill him. For that male is intelligent and resourceful. For he is everywhere and he is nowhere. That's how he is. How he lived.

I had truly regretted making a promise to Naib not to interfere with the Game between Ivod and him. To make up for my inability in not being able to fight that monster, I will do whatever I can to help Naib out.

Confronting my past demon mirrored in the eyes and mind of this blond is the best way to start. I stood up, gaining attention from Victor.

"Once you're done with your lunch, meet me at the foyer. I'll led you to your room. Just leave the plate in the kitchen that's on the right side of the dining room."

I patted Wick and walked away, leaving the blond to eat in peace. While waiting, I continue reading the book that I borrowed from the Manor's library. I sat on the steps of the staircase. Try as I might, I couldn't concentrate on the story. Instead, my mind would always go back to Victor. Why? Why do I keep thinking of that person? Is it because of me seeing my past self in him? If this is the Killing Game much like the book that I'm reading, Victor will surely be the first to be eliminate. Or could he be one of the last few to survive?

He's not used to be around people but he's attentive to people's expression and body language. They wouldn't be able to kill him easily if he's wary of them. He's light so anyone can tackled him down. But that could also mean that he could easily get away from anyone's grasp. There's also affincity to communicate with his dog. Does that mean he is able to understand and communicate with other animals? I'll see when they came across Murro and his boar.

His so-called 'muteness' could came in handy. People don't have to worry about him revealing their plans to anyone else. His big expressive orange eyes. His delicate body. His adorable expression. He would seem harmless to them-

Wait a minute.

Why am I thinking of him like that?! Yes. I do admit that he looked quite adorable but this is no time for that! This is not the time for romance! Focus, Carl! I pinched my forehead in annoyance.

I heard the dining room's door swing opened and soft panting of Wick can be heard coming out from the said room. I looked up to see Victor looked around everywhere but me. Thankfully, he bring along the notepad and pen I left on the table.

"Done with your lunch?"

Victor nodded, still not looking at me.

"Follow me then."

I stood up and led the way to his room. Luckily, I helped Naib in cleaning the spare rooms so I know where to go. Stopping infront of a room inbetween Mike's and Norton's room, I took out the room key I received from Naib and placed it in the keyhole. Unlocking the door, I gestured for Victor to enter first. I waited until after Victor finished looking around his room before I closed the door behind me.

"Victor."

He flinched at my sudden change of tone. Wick jumped into Victor's arm, sensing his master's fear. I smiled a bit underneath my mask.

"Victor, why did you came here? Why did you accept the invitation?"

Victor reached out for his notepad that he placed on the table. I stopped him.

"No. I want to hear it from your own mouth. Talk, Victor."

It happen again. I can see that wary, guarded look in his once expressive eyes. It happen once I gave Victor the notepad and pen. Something flickered in his eyes when I explained to Naib while indirectly informing Victor that I know that he is not mute like he acted. I narrowed my eyes at him.

"Or better yet, tell me the reason why you fake being a mute when you're clearly not. It must be an important enough for you to act out like this."

Victor looked down and his hold on Wick tighten. I can see tears falling on to Wick who whimpered. Perhaps I was a little harsh on him. I could have confronted him days after he is used to being around others.  I definitely could have gone with that plan but I don't have the luxury to wait.

If what Naib had recounted to me is true and if Norton and Victor is truly the last to arrive, that Game of theirs is about to begin, assuming that there is no new-comers about to appear in that other Manor. If there is, they will be a wild card- seeing that Naib does not know them well enough. We have no way of knowing that these new hunters are untouched by that entity's influence. I soften the tone of my voice.

"Forgive me if I'm scaring you but time is of the essense, Victor,"

Victor must have heard my words as his crying quieten down.

"Will you please answer my question truthfully?"

Victor wiped his tears away and nodded. I sighed. At the very least, I could help Victor out and at the same time, lessen Naib's burden.

A/N(2): Originally, there is supposed to be more as hinted in last chapter but due to some changes, this will just be a mini chapter of one of the side ships in this story.

If you are not a casual follower of mine, I decided to shorten the length of chapter-based story due to my impulsive self of making new stories when I already have a on-going one. That would also explain the weird updates schedules. Oops. XD

Not to worry, the second part of le hint will continue on in the next chapter. Until then, stay safe wherever you are and please be paitent with this crazy authoress!❤❤
