IT HAD BEEN NEARLY two months since Tommy had been brought by the ambulance to a London hospital. After nearly dying from a broken skull and internal bleeding, the notorious gangster had spent the last few weeks recovering from major surgery. Business had been as usual without him, however, Deborah was still struggling after seeing him.

When the doctor rang to tell her that her husband's recovery was going well, he also mentioned that Tommy had requested to see her. When she arrived to the hospital, her husband was practically mute, except for the few demands he gave her about the business. Deborah noticed the continuous spoonfuls of morphine he had been drinking and the permenant haze in his eyes. A part of her felt like Tommy had once again drifted away from her and as much as she tried to fight back the anger and pain, it was all too much. That ended up being the last time she had seen her husband.

Unfortunately, the day had finally arrived for his arrival back to Arrow House. It was a day Deborah had dreaded since she had gotten the call a week ago from the hospital. The staff had spent the last few days preparing for their bosses arrival, while Deborah kept herself busy with the Shelby business and her daughter. The only benefit to his homecoming was the fact Veronica got to see her father again.

Huffing to herself, Deborah dropped the black inked pen and stretched her cramped hand. She sat at Tommy's desk in his drawing room, signing forms and documents regarding Tommy's business and financial arrangements. It was almost noon and Deborah could hear the house beginning to become more lively as the staff prepared for their bosses arrival. She had yet to be disturbed, but the brunette knew that the office door was only seconds away from being opened by a pestering Mary.

A loud knock at the office door made Deborah roll her eyes, before Mary's head popped out from behind the wood. Slouching in the brown chair, the young women rubbed her tired and sore eyes, removing any traces of sleep.

"Sorry to interrupt, Mrs. Shelby." The maid greeted, a forced smile of her ageing face.

Opening her eyes, Deborah stared across at the older women. "It's fine, Mary. Did you need something?" She asked.

The women slowly inched closer to the large desk. "Before Mr. Shelby's arrival this afternoon, I wanted to check something with you." Mary announced, looking unsure of herself.

"What is it?" Deborah questioned, eyes downcast on the stacks of paper on the desk.

"Should we prepare the guest room for your husband?" Mary finally asked.

Slightly surprised by her bold question, Deborah sat up from her slouched position and met the women's cold eyes. "I think Tommy would be more comfortable in our bedroom." She told the maid, voice stern.

"Of course Ma'am." Mary nodded, already scurrying from the room.

"Mary." Deborah called, before the older women could leave. "I would prefer if you and the rest of the staff keep your whispers and lies about my marriage to yourselves once Tommy is home."
