(I know I started my other book and then didnt finish and I know that makes a lot of people upset , but that story didnt have a good plot line or story, and I hadn't planned it out very well, but I have for this one and like it a lot better. Sorry if deleting the other story makes you upset but thank you so much for over 100 reads on it! Ps this story won't be a 1d fanfiction, it's going to be a regular romance with a lottttttt of twists;) enjoy!)
"Are you sure you've back everything" my Aunt Lauren asks through the receiver. I laugh as I balance my phone between my shoulder and ear, while continuing to unpack my belongings into my new apartment.
"Positive. We basically packed everything in the house into my suitcase" I tease my aunt, the over planning perfectionist. I continue to unpack my stuff, medications, books, and clothes, before triumphantly kicking shut my large red suitcase with my foot, smiling to myself.
"Listen sweetie, I'm going to let you go and unpack, but please call me this week, I don't want to worry." She says, and I roll my eyes. I am 23 and don't need a babysitter anymore.
We exchange goodbyes before hanging up, and I throw my phone onto the couch as I collapse into a chair, exhausted. I look around my fantastic new apartment and sigh. It's small, 1 main room acting as a living room with a brown couch and a flat screen mounted on the wall thanks to the previous owners. At the back of the apartment there is one bedroom hidden by a tall white door. To the left of the bedroom door is a kitchen with granite counters and cabinets waiting to be filled with food and other things I still need to buy.
I look at the counters in the kitchen and see my clothes laid about all over top. I walk over across the hardwood floors and to the granite tops, scooping up as many shirts and Shorts as my small arms allow.
After a few hours of putting clothes into drawers and the small closet in my bedroom, I decide its time for a break, and time to explore my neighbourhood. It's summer in Florida, and the weather is very hot so I throw on brown cargo shorts and a loose white top. I grab my car keys and sunglasses off the counter, before locking my front door, and turning left down the hallway towards the elevator. The walls are decorated with antique paintings of angels and beautiful women, but it's a little disturbing, with the lack of clothing they're wearing. I press the down button on the elevator and stand still waiting for it to retreat for me.
"Riley?" I hear, and I whip around at the sound of my name, to see the fimular face of Sarah, my brother Mark's girlfriend. She smiles widely as she goes in for a hug. Even though I haven't seen her often, because mark hasn't lived with us for the past 5 years, I know her, and she is very sweet, as well as beautiful with her long straight brown hair and sharp green eyes. She hugs me tightly and I smile, hugging back.
"What are you doing here?" She asks, smiling widely. She holds a coffee travel cup in her hand and a white iPhone, black ray burns sunglasses rest on the top of her head, she seriously looks like a model.
"I actually just moved in, 4b" I tell her, and she nods.
"That's so exciting!" She says, as the elevator door open, we both step inside and I press lobby.
"Why are you here?" I ask, and immediately after I wonder if it sounds offensive or rude. Well, even if it was, Sarah keeps smiling and answers.
"My sister lives in 4F, she's actually waiting at the Olive Garden down the street, and Mark is going to meet us, you're more than welcome to join" she says, sounding genuinely inviting and welcoming. I want to hug her again, girls like her are so hard to find. Mark better not screw this up, I laugh to myself.
"That sounds great, thank you! I'll take my own car since I have to go shopping afterwards, but I'll meet you there" I say, before Sarah gives me directions for the Olive Garden in the garden and tells me goodbye.
The drive to the restaurant is short and only takes about 5 minutes, I take notice of where it is in case I am craving Italian food one day. I pull my car into a parking spot near the front and look in the mirror, making sure i look okay, my light brown hair is parted down the middle, which I'm told makes my eyes look bluer, and my lips redder. I'm not sure if either is good, but I happen to like my hair like this, pin straight. I push some behind my ear and step out of my car, seconds after Sarah steps out of her car a few spaces down. She greets me and we walk towards the entrance together. The second the door opens, my scenes are invaded with smells of garlic and butter, and other spices which makes my mouth water. Sarah leads me to a booth near the back, sitting a petite girl with similar features as Sarah, but a smaller nose and rounder face. Still pretty. She wears dark black jeans with holes in the middle and a grey shirt with a mig length jacket on. The girl looks up and sees us walking towards us and smiles.
"Hey Sarah!" She greets her sister and looks over at me, the same smile over taken her face.
"Hey Andrea. This is Riley, she's Marks sister, and lives on the same floor as you. Small world" Sarah jokes, and Andrea waves to me. The girls look a few years apart, Mark is 3 years older so I assume Sarah is the same.
"Hey Riley. How are you liking Florida so far?" Andrea asks, and we all sit down and begin talking, until Mark shows up. He greets me with a hug and Sarah with a kiss to the cheek, before sliding into the booth beside her. He still looks the same as always, messy hair and a plain white t shirt, but he can really make it work.
We all order our own pasta dishes, I get the fettuccine Alfredo.
Soon later the waiter comes back with our dishes and places them in front of us.
"Will there be any other drinks besides water? Maybe a light beer or wine?" He asks, and immediately I feel Marks eyes on mine. I keep my eyes locked on the food in front of me.
"No. No thank you" he answers, his eyes still on me, and I feel my chest weighting down on me.
"Are you sure? We-" the waiter begins.
"I fucking said no" mark says, and the waiter apologizes before speed walking away.
"Riley" Mark says after a few minutes of silence. I don't trust myself to speak, or I may begin crying in front of everybody. I stand and scurry off to the ladies room, feeling all eyes on me.
I am relieved all of the stalls are empty as I lean over the sink with my arms spread open. I feel like throwing up.
I can still see it now. The car, the lights, him... My tears betray me and begin to fall down my face, as the door to the washroom opens and in walks Andrea. Viciously I wipe my cheeks free from the moisture and put on my best smile.
"Are you okay Riley?" Andrea asks, almost a whisper.
I smile widely , even though I feel like fainting.
"Yep, the pasta just made me feel a little sick." I say. I want to collapse.
"Mark told us what had happened.. With Connor and all" and that's all it takes. I put my face in my hands and begin sobbing heavily just from his name. I feel Andrea wrap her arms around me in a tight embrace. I don't speak at all, and neither does she. For a few moments all we do is stand here, and I'm thankful nobody else has come into the bathroom.
I sniffle and pull away from her, and wipe my eyes again. She has a look of sympathy on her face, a look I hate. I don't need people feeling sorry for me, which is why I don't like people knowing what had happened. I feel slightly angry at Mark for telling them, but then again I understand, I must have looked like a crazy person running out of the booth at the mention of the word beer.
"I'm sorry, this must be a weird first impression" I say, trying to lighten the mood, and I sniffle again, trying to flood out all thoughts about Connor.
"No no , don't worry about it. Hey, I know we hardly know each other, but I have to go to ikea to get a new dresser, would you want to come?" Andrea asks, and Im thankful she doesn't ask more questions about my leaving the booth.
I don't have any friends in this town, mark lives about an hour away and Aunt Lauren lives 2.
I smile and accept her offer, before she leads me back to the table.
Mark and Sarah watch me as I walk back, but they don't say anything about it and neither do i.
About 20 minutes later were all paying for our lunches and saying goodbye, I give Mark a hug and promise to call him later.
Andrea and I agree to meet at the Ikea down the street and I punch in the address to the GPS before driving off towards the shop.

We don't get much shopping done, we mostly talk about music and tv and just our personal lives.
We both find out we love Coldplay and the show The Big Bang Theory, and that she works at a local diner for work. I tell her that I need to find a job soon to help pay the bills. She tells me about her 4 brothers and sister, Sarah, and I tell her about mark.
"So what do your parents do?" Andrea asks, and I stiff as we sit in a Starbucks chatting over our 2nd round of coffee.
"My dad died a few months after I was born. He was in the military and he got shot. And my mom died 9 years later, from breast cancer" I tell her. The story about my dad is quite shocking to most people, but I have never met my dad, because he was at war when I was born. My mom was a terrible mother, sounds harsh, but it's true. She was selfish and extremely rude.
Andrea just stares with her mouth wide for a moment before regaining herself and changing the subject.
"My boyfriend Nick might be coming over tonight, and he's bringing a few friends , if you wanted to stop by and hang out for a little while." She tells me, and I smile at her offer, before hesitating. They're will probably be alcohol and I don't think I am ready yet.
As if she can read my mind, Andrea interrupts my thoughts.
"Don't worry, Nick has a kidney problem, so we don't drink any alcohol. Don't worry." She says, and I gladly accept her offer.
Maybe this town won't be so bad after all.
